The reason for the DRL removal is for during the day, when you unlock your car, the lights come on, then when you open your door they turn off. then you turn the car on and they turn back on again. not good for bulbs to turn on and off repeatedly when they havent been warmed up from what I have been told. Also bulbs will last longer if they are not on all the time during the day
Ive got over 2 years on mine and havent had an issue yet. Got my kit from TRS though, Morimoto 35w ballasts

Oh, and I've been told that 55's make too much heat for our enclosures. Can't confirm it though, never tried. I'm on 35's.

I don't agree with that at all. I think the added safety of running them even during the day is worth the slightly shortened span.
And by the way, if HIDs are so, so much shorter in lifespan why do OEMs use them?

OEMs don't run HIDs during the day. They use halogen bulbs as DRLS. It's VERY rare to see HID DRLs. Also the hids that OEMs use are much higher quality than any aftermarket bulb, and have significantly longer lifespans.
Besides, bulbs are wearable parts that will eventually burn out no matter what. I've thought about putting my fuse back in to have em on during the day, but I always forget to. Not like I notice during the day anyway lol
