people take the emblems off civics because their crap....around here people put like acura logos and **** on because they are too insecure to rock what they got and no one wants to roll in a honda....you should be proud to have your car say chevy on it...otherwise go buy something else...

how many times do people have to say its not about it saying chevy.... The wheels still have chevy emblems and so does the front. For me its more of a car washing deal a bunch of times its hard to get the dirt thats close to the emblems and its ever more of a pain in the ass when wax starts to build up.

Secondly if someone doesnt like the car they wont like it emblem or not.

im into individuality, i dont buy a car to advertise for it, i buy it to drive
id rather have people wonder, what is that car? is it fast? is it expensive?

becareful with taking the front emblem off.. the grille underneath is molded to the chevy emblem.. if you take off the emblem there will be two "higher" points on the grill

this is skiboarders car but its a good shot of the front emblem

Im going to keep the front one on
move the side ones down to the original preproduction spot at the bottom of the door
and remove all from the back

I like the clean look with no badges, although i think ill keep the bowtie. As for the raw pipe coming out the rear you can just go down to pepboys or autozone and get a cheap exhaust tip that will clean that up

Put them in the gallery. I wanna take the back one off but change the front one somehow to be black or something. I also think it looks nicer if you put the side SS logo's where the pre producion ones were. They don't look right that high up. Did u use any solvents to get yours off or just peel slow? If they would have made the badges silver instead of that damn gold color. I just not a big fan of of them gold emblems. I also got to figure out what I'll do with the one on the steering wheel. I don't knw how that one will be attached. I wish a guy could just buy all silver ones the same size and replace them. The one on the trunk just isn't right though.

I agree the gold is just tacky, I was able to peal it of carefully the cobalt, supercharged, and SS emblems just came of w/o a problem didn’t leave any residue behind, the Bowtie was a problem though it was kinda big so I was extra careful when u take it off some of the double sided tape remains so I used something called GooOff I think that’s how it was spelled (it was my friends) and I took the tape of. After I just simply re-waxed that are to make it cleaner ( I didn’t need to I just wanted to).

I want to take the gold emblem of the front but it leaves 2 holes and 2 high points so I don’t know what im gonna do… maybe paint it red or black. I also want to remove the gold emblem of the rims not sure if it pops out or I have to paint it. I hate the gold so much. If im gonna paint it then im gonna paint the whole rim black and leave the lip area (doesn’t really have a lip but the outside of the rim) the normal color. I painted the caliper red so the black would match it. Don’t know if it will look good but im debating it. I might just leave it like that. As for the steering wheel I don’t know what you could do for that.

Cool, can't wait to get mine. I heard of one person covering there front one with vinyl but i would imagine that wouldn't go well either because i'm guessing it's pretty rounded. Maybe that would work on the rims? I got a vinyl cutter and some black vinyl in my office at work so i't probably give it a try. I'll have to see it in person first. Thanks for the tips.

go here for the pic, i tried hosting it earlier, and it didnt show up, i dunno why
http://roclife.perception.cc/album66/4_27_029

CobaltSS132, what if you paint the chevy badges silver on the rims, i think that would match good
i had the same thing with the big badge too
just take your time, heat it up, and use fishing line (not the metal stuff)
when you use goof off, or any adhesive remover, put a little on the cloth, and wipe it
dont let it sit, it will eat through the clearcoat
i noticed i had a blemish in my paint below my clearcoat under the chevy badge, which i dont think was from debadging it
but its only noticeable in a certain angle, and you gotta be looking for it, not noticeable tho
for the front logo on the grill, i was thinkin of puttin LS over the holes, but thats kinda ricey, and i cant think of anything to put on there, i might shave the holes
i call my car a 'slobalt', and with the letters i took off, i can spell SLOBALT with them, and i thought about puttin em back on in that order, but i did take em off, so i dont wanna put em back on

...but i love the look i get when driving by people, 'what kinda car is that' 'look at those tailights' 'you think its fast' 'is that a corvette coupe?!?!' ' is it fast'
its really cool

Goo Gone is safer to use than Goof Off, smells better too. Just let make sure you let it soak in to the adhesive some first, it might take a minute. You can get it at Home Depot or pretty much any auto parts store. I install (and remove) graphics for a living, and I usually use Big Orange made by Zep to remove adhesive. It's a bit pricey ($30 a gallon) and is difficult to find, but has been the best and safest all-round adhesive remover I've come across so far. Goo Gone is basically the same thing, just not as strong. Goof Off evaperates too quickly and also contains paint thinners. I used it once when I ran out of Big Orange at a job site and it softened the paint (old paint , was somewhat oxidized).

I decided to pull the bowtie off mine today. Here's a before and after pic. I think it looks much better now. Click on the pics for larger pics.

Just popped it off with a screwdriver wrapped in paper towel as to not scratch the paint, and the double sided tape peeled right off. Tried the floss trick, didn't work. Then went over where it was with some goo gone to make sure there was no sticky left.

what u do, is use a heatgun, heat it up and the adhesive will break down, then you slowly pull the item off, and slide your fishing line behind it, and use that to separate the adhesive from the badge
then use a little goo gone on a cloth

DO NOT LET IT 'SOAK'

wipe it on, then wipe it off after a few seconds, the adhesive remover will remove the clearcoat if you arent careful
goo gone isnt as strong as the other substances, but it will still eat the clearcoat if left on too long
another good idea is to use an alcohol wipe on top of everything when its finished, itll protect it til you can wash it
then wash it, and wax over the areas to rebuild the clearcoat

It will remove the wax, but will not damage the clear coat. I speak from 10 1/2 years of experience. Goo Gone is citric based, and is safe for painted surfaces as long as the surface is not extremely hot. If you use it in the shade or your garage, you'll be fine. Just becareful not to mix it up with Goof Off, which is totally different.

I haven't tried to remove the badges from my Cobalt, and probably never will. But over the years I've removed alot of badges from other vehicles that I installed "vehicle wraps" on. Most newer cars, even if you leave the adhesive behind when you remove the badge, if you pull away at a 45 degree angle with steady force you can stretch the adhesive so as to pull it off clean, not even needing any chemicals. It will most likely break off into small pieces between your finger tips, though, than come off in one big piece so as to be rather time consuming, but it might still be worth trying first. I pulled the badges off of a Ford Escape Hybrid a week ago and it didn't even leave any adhesive behind at all. Just gave each letter a little twist and it pulled right off.

If I were to debadge I would only leave the SS on. It's the only thing that matters IMO.
