Electric or Mechanical

Ok, I'm looking at gauges to buy for my cobalt. I was thinking the Autometer Cobalt Series, and I was wondering, does it matter whether I go with Electric or Mechanical? What is the difference?

Help would be greatly appreciated guys

Thanks

Better check their website's mounting faqs first...for some, like oil pressure, I think you will have to use electrical.

well, I would like to go with mechanical, just because of the fact that they are cheaper, but would a mechanical boost gauge run off the same wires that the factory boost gauge has?

Oil Pressure will normally come with an electrical sending unit and they are cheap.

Anything that is "Pressure" related, you should try to keep Electical except Boost.

I hope like hell i dont have to go with electric, because the gauges I'm looking at are 65.00 for mechanical, and 199 for electric.

What specific gauges are you looking for? Oil pressure you want to use electric because then you don't have to run an oil ine into your car. Other than that there's no real reason one way or the other.

http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/sale.../Cobalt_Series These are the ones i'm lookin at.

yea, the factory boost gauge is electric. Which means I have to buy an electric boost gauge for it which is $200.....so, I am thinking about just getting a Interceptor scan gauge for that price, and just getting an a/f ratio gauge, and oil pressure gauge.
