First Gen 4 Projector Problems

I think i'm the first person to have a problem with their Gen 4 Projectors. I know this is kinda a repost from my other thread but just wanted to put it out there.
My Drivers side Headlight is producing a yellow tint around the cutoff area. Thankfully the ebay member I bought them from has been very helpful. He said he emailed the manufacturer and that I am the first out of 600 to have a problem, lucky me right!
Just waiting to hear back from him about what to do now.
I know kinda a pointless thread but just needed to vent a little. I tried switching bulbs, ballasts, headlights to opposite sides for testing, and still the same outcome

But **** 1 out of 600 has a problem, i'll take that anyday!

Anyway just so I dont get a post that says worthless without pics lol! This is after switching ballasts and bulbs, and then I finally put the drivers side headlight into the passenger side harness and same outcome

This is the Passenger Side Headlight on the Drivers Side Harness

And this is the Drivers Side Headlight on the Passenger Side Headlight

I got them off ebay. The guy is working with me right now. He usually responds pretty quickly to my emails. I'm not worried about getting them fixed, i'm sure he will do right ( I hope that is).
More or less just letting people know of the problem, in case they come across this too!

its the projector lens itself. either has residue on it or something got into the glass when it was being formed.

They are either going to ship you a new light, and you ship the old one to them, or they will have you send them the light, fix it and send it back.....

eithe way 1 out of 600 isn't bad at all

good luck!

i had the same problem with my gen 3 lights, i change the lights bulbs and ballast thinking it was that, but i found out my cutoff was way to high.. your lights may need to be adjusted or changed for manufacturing defect..

a few things to check:

make sure your lights are mounted correctly to the body of the car, all the holes on the lights are squared to the holes on the body of the car and the nuts are tight.

use the 25 feet from the wall method and your "cutoff should be either 2'.10'' or 3' or 4' from the bottom of the wall" (cutoff height matters based on ride height), this step cures most of the problems. (Useless Fact: Ferrari / Lamborghini / Zonda HL HID are normally 2'.2'' - 2'.10'')

make sure there isnt ANY OIL GUNK SWEAT PLASTIC - nothing on the bulb, this will cause the bulb to burn whatever is on it and display a yellow tint and it will cause it to blow up in the future. (if there is anything on the bulb clean it with soap and water and with a lint free cloth and let it dry completely)

make sure your bulbs are "flush or flat" in the hole, if it isnt flat, this will make the bulb sit off center in the "bell housing", which will touch something and burn the plastic or any material inside and may cause it to display the light improperly, these bulbs will burn anything it touches..

make sure your bulbs are rated to go with the ballast, found out some online stores n ebay seller's mix n match bulbs n ballast with different sets.. i.e.: 60 watt socket with a 100 watt bulb.. if this is the case, your bulbs will have a short life span (the filament will burn either really bright (really short life span) or dim (short life span))..

as per sylvania, if the bulb as a yellow tint in the cut off after 8-12 or 12-24 months it time to replace the bulb, the filament n gas is burning off prematurely.. normally bulbs last for 2 or more years from the date installed.

another thing to consider would be the cutoff shield (metal piece inside the projector). It needs either to be bent forward or pulled back a little bit.

It wouldn't be the cutoff shield. I'm thinking its the actual projector. Everything is mounted fine and I've switched ballast and bulbs(from ddm tuning so there not ebay mix and match). I'm just waiting to see what they want me to do with the projector and hopefully they will just replace the whole headlight for me

What did you end up doing? I got a yellow cut off like you and my two beams are different colors.

Damn, so it seems like almost everyone is having this beam color problem??!

I was going to order these come spring time but now I'm having second thoughts. I already have 6000k hids waiting to go in them too...

i would also put my money on the cutoff shield.. only thing that sucks is that you would have to take apart the headlight to experiment with it. but i did the "cutoff shield" mod on my gen 1's and i was able to get that yellow-brown cutoff if i bent the shield one way.. but then bending it the opposite way produced a bluish-purple cutoff

My black Gen4s I got from the seller ivm1 (shipped from California) - slightly faster shipping IIRC

My chrome Gen4s I got from the seller americanmotorparts (shipped from Canada)
