FX-R or Mini H1

Hey guys I wanna do some retro's once i get the money. i've never taken apart the balt lights before so im a little weary with cutting the housing. which is better for light output, cost, and labour. thanks a lot.

easiest would be the mini h1s. they really dont require any cutting to the housing at all and they clamp right in. the fx-r require alot of cutting and aiming. supposely the minis are just as good as the fx-r's, but ive never compared a set in person. cost would probably be the same, minis might be alittle cheaper.

This. The FX-R is slightly better beam output wise to me. I like the FX-Rs a little better because they're a slightly higher quality projector, and they use a D2S bulb. Also don't worry about that foreground limiter, you won't even notice it when you're driving, it's mostly to keep light from shining on the inside of the headlight housing. If you're afraid to cut anything or don't have a dremel tool, get the H1s.

It's essentially a completely different projector, the only thing in common is the name. It's called the D2S mini because it's the smallest D2S projector you can get.

Mini D2S

I would steer clear of the mini d2s for the time being. The H1 version was recently upgraded and from the link I would say the output on the H1 far surpass the the d2s version.

bulbs... d2s has lots of brands of bulbs of high quality OEM stuff. easy to find. plus most of them use an AMP plug which allows for higher quality ballasts and ****.

not when comparing them to other retrofit projectors, but compared to aftermarkets, which is what they are priced to compete with, they're much better.

And as I mentioned in another thread, the bulbs for the buyhids projectors are a one off type that aren't readily available if you need them in a hurry, compared to D2S or H1.

Yeah I 100% agree with you on this. I just figure spend an extra $150 to do proper retros.

agreed.. i doubt those have the ability to light up a dark ditch in the middle of the night.

the best thing that i love about my retros is how wide of a beam pattern they have... sure its nice to light signs and **** up way down the road, but its the deer and animals in the ditch that i need to see.

and as a further comparison, Here's an output shot of the G1s that I currently have. You can see why I'm getting rid of them
Going from this
G1

to this

TL

Yeah, you might need some wire taps for the halos, and on trs if you spend more than 300 you get free led strip if you make note of them at checkout. As far as mounting the minis I'm not sure but you might have to just widen the hole a little bit, but nothing serious.

i say go H1 minis IMO they beam is much more even.. and are pretty much identical in width to the FXrs

they're the best bang for the buck.. stay away from the D2S Minis

the G1 PnP's are hit or miss.. just like the H1's different bulbs produce better results that being said it's 200 or so bux for a H1 mini.. lol and go with TRS they're win
