Gauge question.

So I have a quick question. I plan to get a 3 pod pillar from ZZP, and I want to replace my stock boost gauge. My question is, will this one be the same plug type? Or will I have to re wire it?

Thanks!

You will have to rewire it into the vacuum line and power.

Oh, I forgot to add, its this one, if it makes a difference. Auto Meter 4777 - Auto Meter Carbon Fiber Ultra-Lite Analog Gauges - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Or would it just be easier to get the mechanical one?

Both you will have to tap into the line

I have digital.

Both you have to tap into the vacuum line like i said.. and power the backlighting. It's the same.. It all depends on what you're into..

One is more responsive than the other as well

Hmm. Well then, I have a couple more questions. Which is more responsive/accurate? And where is the boost/vacuum line on the blower?

Sorry for all the questions, I just like to go into a project knowing how to do it.

No problem man, Ask as many questions as you need. I learned the same way, by asking questions.

If you need anything else feel free to PM me.

I find the digital more accurate.. I hooked up my AEM Digital boost gauge, and a mechanical aem boost gauge.. and i found it was much more responsive.

The vacuum line comes from the intake manifold under the blower... it's the only black hose, and goes to the by-pass valve.

I've dotted the vacuum line in red. All you need to do is cut this line, and put the T-Fitting that is included with your gauge, re connect both sides of the cut hose to the T-Fitting, and run your new line through the firewall to your newly installed boost gauge, and of course wire the gauge for power.

If you need help with that, Again. Feel free to PM me.

Here is the Diagram:

Ahh. I see. I've installed at vacuum gauge before in my old Grand Am GT, but it just confuses me on the whole "mechanical or electrical" thing. The one I did on my GAGT was mechanical, and I did the whole t-fitting dealio, and wiring it up and whatnot, I thought that electrical just went off of sensors, or something like that, just like the stock one does. Or is there something I am not understanding about it?

My AEM One goes from the T fitting, Hose.. To a bung with a sensor on it, which then plugs into an electrical pigtail, which plugs into the gauge.

So basically the electrical one just has the extra bung and pigtail on it? Where as the mechanical one is just the hose?

I see. So i think after all this confusion, I'm just going to get the mechanical one, just cause its less expensive.

I got another quick question. Where would be the best place to get the power from? I know there is the fuse panel on the passenger side, but is there a better place to find power?
