Going to Paint Engine Plastics....Few Questions

Alright i am going to paint the fuse box cover, the cover right below it(atleast it is there on a 2.2), and the sparkplug cover. what types of paint do i need to get. do i need to use high temp paint on the spark plug cover? also i want it to look as muchlike my laser blue exterior as possible, so i was thinking about primering, sand, primer, base(silver with metal flake), use blue candy paint (until i reach the right color), wet sand, and then clear coat. I do have some experience with this stuff but it was all models and other small things, but i was wondering how many coats of each to put down?

I did not use high temp paint under my hood and so far so good. I was worried it may be a mistake but to my knowledge sunburst orenge high temp paint doesn't exist so I made do with what I have. As for the process, it sounds like you have it right. Hit it with several (3) coats of paint and clear to give it some depth and all will be good. If you want your color to match exactly and don't use high temp paint you can go to the dealer and get the exact match.

painting plastics under the hood w/ spray paint will be fine, pastic doesnt hold heat for a long time. Automotive paint will be ok for most motor parts, i saw a guy that painted his SC w/ arrival blue paint, and it held well... if your doing spark plug cover, fuse box & what plastic what nots under the hood you'll be good w/ normal household paints...

if you plan on painting plastic w/ automotive touchup paint you best to use a special type of etched primer for plastics

when you pull it off look on the bottom ther will be 3 shiny screws unscrew them and then pul th top off...also i would recommend setting the peice back on top of the motor to avoid dust and stuff

i painted pretty much anything i could take off under my hood, but before i started priming or painting i used a spray adhesion promoter it helps the paint stick alot better , just a suggustion , you can buy it at murrays or any parts store
