Good place to buy GM paint?

So I have a sunburst orange metallic ss. With a dime size rust spot on that has been driving me crazy. I have bought stuff to remove the rust but before I do I was wondering if there is any good places to get the paint? (Online, or stores)

What form do you want it In? If your wanting a quart or gallon size like you would spray with a gun then a lot of orielies can mix paint by code and I believe Sherwin Williams does too. WWW.tcoglobal.com is a site that sells paints and you can order by paint chip. If your looking for spray cans I guess just a local auto parts store that carries touch up paint.

And if its a rust spot you better sand it down and treat it first, not just cover it up with touch up paint or it may spread like cancer and the paint will just chip off anyways. Also the paint will not perfectly match cause there's clearcoat over the rest of the paint and I'm sure its faded from the sun so the touch up may stand out like a sore thumb depending on the area.

yea if your doing a tiny touch up then just take it to the dealer, if you screw something up you will end up paying more for it in the end. a lot of rust is more than just surface rust as well. better to get it fully fixed than just surface treated.

That's good. Better spend a lil now then cover it up and have headaches later. Just looking out for ya man. Myself I have guns and the equipment to sand it down and paint and fade it properly so not a big deal. Hopefully soon ill have my own shop to work in then next step will be to build my own downdraft paintbooth

Thanks man I appreciate that for real! And I bought this rust dissolver from auto zone. It's called loctite navel jelly. I'm going to give it a try on some rusty tools I have laying around to be safe but the guy at the zone said he uses it all the time. Any thoughts?

Yeah that stuff is good at removing rust. They also sell stuff that neutralizes rust and turns it into a primer all in one, however I've never used it just been told about it.

I saw the one that turns into primer as well. I'm just worried that when I do patch it up with the paint that it will be so obvious. Well... I guess it's only a dime size. Ill test it out on some scrap metal before

Where is this spot located on the car? If its low enough it may not be noticed.

u might be ok then. just be sure that you DO NOT tape anything off when you go to spray it with your color matched paint. if you tape it off it will just leave segregation lines you will literally need to fan it out (blending) after your patch. don't forget to seal the area with a good primer sealer as well before spraying, otherwise the paint will absorb into the filler area and it will be noticeable.

If you go to a body shop, especially one that contracts out of GM dealerships, they can get you color matched PPG paint. PPG makes OEM paint for many car companies. Our dealership actually has a little scanner type thing that you put on the paint of the car, and it scans it and matches the paint.
