gettin ready to paint my headlight, and i was just wondering if i can just paint them the way they are or do i need to sand them any first....thanks guys....

by the way the car is silver, should i use flat black or a high gloss....

 

I didint sand it and no problem,, just prime it and paint,,, go flat black,, dont like the glossy look IMO,,, just make sure you seal them very very well,, and dont touch the iner part of the clear part of the headlight...

As for the question, you need to sand, if you do not after awhile the paint will flake off. And it dosent matter if you use flat or glossy, but glossy will make it look complete on the car, seeing as the car is glossy and not flat.

 

i would prolly go with glossy also, make sure you seal the headlight

 

Definetly make sure you seal it good. I thought I had it then I powerwashed it and BAM! Instant fog. Then I took em out and resealed them, swore they couldnt get water in them, and somehow they're worse.

Time to get projectors? I think so.

 

What grit sandpaper did you use and what kind of primer did you use?
