Yea there is deff a bigger plastic piece that is suppose to be on your bumper, where the fog light should screw onto. Maybe an inch or two in depth and about the same size as the black round plastic on your fog light.

I had my bumper off to install a CAI last week and took the whole unit out instead of just the bulbs the first time.

Maybe I'm wrong though, I assume you tried to screw it on to the plastic piece shown in the very bottom pic.

Your bumper does not have the brackets where the headlights mount to, you need to make a custom bracket or get another bumper.

whoever sold you the inserts (if it was not gm) did not include the piece that goes inside the bumper which the fog lights mount to. Call gm or a parts supplier.

Well... GMpartsdirect doesn't have a catalog up anymore and crateenginedepot doesn't have them either. Got any other suggestions?

I would go through my local chevy dealer but those guys are no good... last time I ordered a part from then they got the wrong one, for the wrong car and wouldn't let me return it even though the part on the order slip wasn't the one they gave me.

Dude, believe me you need another bumper.
You can't just buy those plastics, those are built in the bumper.

Check this link, and see the difference between the bumper with fogs and the one without fogs.

Well... damn, I guess I'm beat. That was a waste of $200 bucks, I'm gonna try and build some brackets or something before I give up.

Thanks guys.

there was a guy who did what you are now trying to do already. I brought the thread back from the dead maybe a week ago. I believe it was under appearance. But just search for ls/lt bumper fogs. You'll be able to find it.

Did that guy actually finish it up? I found the tread (i think) but he was just starting the project himself.
this is the thread I found

You're not going to be able to do it without the new bumper, at least in the stock locations.

A bracket would be next to impossible, there's nothing in the vicinity to bolt anything to. Not to mention the bumper needs to be able to flex a little and any bracket you'll make will be solid which will probably lead to either really deeply recessed fogs or stress cracks from the wind.
