hyperboimmv, You say that HIDs don't need to be in projectors, you are partially correct in saying this. The only applications where HIDs are used in a reflector are where the reflector was designed for HID. Our Cobalt reflector headlamps like other halogen reflector lamps are not designed for a Xenon lighting system.

My SVT Focus had factory HID's, and my gas mileage was not too good for a 4 banger. My SS gets better. The HELLA HID's are badass factory equipment on the SVT's

So then there should be an aftermarket headlight assembly made to support the HID reflectors

No, I am not saying after you get a kit. If you have 2 models (say they are both Focus's), one has the HID lights, the other doesnt. Both cars are identical except for that option. You look at the exact amount of fuel you use in one year for both, and see if there isnt the slightest difference. Both cars are driven the same, both are used the same. There is going to be a difference.. Look at all the studies proving that. Just like with the studies about DRL's using more energy, consuming more gas. It may be a fraction, but still.. It is true...
Well, if you keep your foot out of it just one time over the course of the year, you'll save at least as much as you would have by getting the HID bulbs. I mean, the extra power consumed by the halogen bulb is going to amount to pennies over the course of a year.

I find most HID factory or not, way to bright for on coming traffic. I am all for seeing better but not if I end up blinding other drivers. A nice flat smooth road is one thing but coming around a bends or a bumpy road they will shine in other peoples eyes.

you bought fake HID's, aka bulbs
they will be blue, will give you less light, and will burn out fast
