Horizontal adjustment on 2nd gen projectors

Horizontal adjustment on 2nd gen projectors
No luck adjusting 2nd generation projector with lower horizontal adjustment screw useing philips. I can see the teeth moving but no change in light position. Anyone else able to get this to work without removing projector housing?
