i R teh Noob at this.

Hey there everyone. Brian here from NY. So I've been a big time cobalt fan since I got my first, very basic cobalt LS back in 2006. It was that ugly "grandma" color (gold) and manual locks, windows, all the kind of stuff.

When I turned 21 I ran into some money and decided I wanted to upgrade. Being the impatient person I am, I searched and searched, but could NOT find an SS, and settled for a Cobalt SPORT, which I had never even seen before until I found it on Beepbeep.com.

Victory red with a sun roof, obviously the with power windows and locks because I'm lazy and wanted that.

Like my topic title says, I'm a noob at cars, I have NO idea what I'm talking about when it comes to what's under the hood. I just drive it and put gas into it lol.

OK..onto my point of this topic..

I'm about to get white racing stripes like this cobalt:

and was wondering how to go about getting white ..rim hubcap things err..like the august picture of that yellow cobalt, how it's black, but I want white. Lol. I want something that doesn't look like I freakin' spray painted it on, like all these trashy Subarus in my town who spray paint them gold -_-

Again, sorry for the Noob-Cake-ness of my car knowledge.

You can get them powdercoated....search your area for a shop that will powdercoat your rims white....shop around because they can be pricey....ask if there's a "set-up" charge too.

Powdercoating is more chip resistant than spray painting.

If you can photoshop a picture of your car with the white rims to see if it'll look good...It'll save time /money.

By the way..this is for aluminum wheels NOT steel rims with hubcaps....If you have plastic hubcaps with steel rims...well then thats another story

I see. Well I have no idea what they're made of XD would you or anyone else be able to tell just from a picture? I can take a pretty nice quality picture of my wheels.

What would be a decent price for a powdercoat?

Thanks for the info as well =)

the August car of the month your referring to has painted gloss black wheels not powdercoated b/c hes a broke bitch.

paint will last you a long time depending on what paint you use, how many coats you use, and how well your prep it. If you have the money for powdercoating then id go that route 4 shore. I have heard from 55-100 a rim for solid colors. 2 tone or something crazy will likely be more

since it's only 6 am, I'm not going out to get a picture just yet lol, but this is something I probably do NOT want to do myself and **** up. If I **** up, I'm going to be pissed. If a shop ***** up, I can demand it be fixed ya know?

I actually figured that you could just special order these things so that no painting or anything would be involved.

And after looking at it, white would be a bad choice, I think. I might have to make a compromise on the colors, but that's still a while down the road.

Edit:

Ok here's a picture

Port Jervis which, if you don't know where it is, it's way too hard to explain. About 3 hours by train north of the city is the best I can do LOL
