Question Interior Lighting Issues

Hey guys, I have a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC.

Where the hell are all the interior lights? I know there isn't a dome light, but there doesn't appear to be any lights on the doors either. When I get into the car its pitch black! I just noticed the plug that plugs into the rear-view mirror was unplugged so I plugged it in. Now the two lights on the mirror won't shut off! Even if I click the buttons they stay on. They only turn off when I unplug the clip.

Any ideas?

Did you make sure the doors were shut? those are the only interior lights if you have a sunroof, though you can add the factory dome light behind the sunroof yourself if you want. Must be something wrong with either the mirror I would guess.

Yeah, I shut the doors and the lights stayed on. According to my Google-Fu another member had a similar issue and it turned out to be a bad BCM. However he said it cost $1,000 to fix and I have no clue what a BCM is. My remote to unlock/lock the doors doesn't work either. Not sure if its related or not.

The BCM is the body control module, it's one of the computers that controls the car. The two issues are probably unrelated. The remote probably just has a dead battery or the soldiered connections are broken, which is a common issue. I doubt it's a BCM but it's possible I guess, usually a bad bcm will cause a lot more issues than that.

I read another thread saying one of the pins might be bent in the clip, which doesn't make sense to me because if a pin was messed up it wouldn't be able to turn the lights on at all, right? Anyways I got to take the car back to the dealership tomorrow because the car is throwing me CEL codes for the Injen intake and a bad thermostat so I'll mention it to him and see what he thinks. Worse case scenario I bring it to one of the Chevy dealerships downtown and see what they have to say.

Unless anyone else can chime in.

Are they on full power all the time or do they dim without going completely off?
If you put LEDs in they will remain dim without ever going out because there is always 3v on that circuit

I'll check tomorrow morning. So my battery wouldn't die if I did that? Seems like a ghetto fix.
