LED reverse tail lights... the saga continues

Ok so i bought my 40.00 set of led reverse lights in hopes of brightening em...and they are bright when you look at them.

However!!!!

I get more light from braking than i do from the reverse lights. WTF? I cant even tell they are on. They look cool, but how often are you reversing to show them off? Major failmod and im going back to filaments due to practicality. Seriously, just because when you look at them they are brighter doesnt mean they illuminate anything.

You are now, officially a ricer! . Welcome to the club!

Lol. Just kidding. Well, the brake lights should always be brighter than the reverse lights.......... The lens is so much bigger.

except when i look out the back i dont see any illumination at night.

as far as ricer goes, you might as well call anyone with HIDs rice. Since i dont like the yellow tint.

On another note, i plugged em in to my dome lights and it was bright enough....but too long so im probably gonna just undo the leds and re-soder my own dome lights.

LOL. Black when backing up FTL!
Well, HID's come in BMW's & Benzes, they really can't be considered rice.
All HID's don't have that yellow tint. Only the 4,300 HID's. I have 8,000K HID's & they are more the less blue.

But good luck with them in the dome lights! It should look good!

I used those same bulbs. They were dim enough that they couldn't be seen in broad daylight, so I switched to the 36 M-SMT bulbs found here: http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 It's basically the same bulb but with twice the number of LED modules. These actually illuminate a bit behind me at night, but no LED can yet match the luminosity of a filament light bulb. These might come close, but I have not tried these so I can't say for sure: http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...1958/SFV/32481 If you're looking for practicality, especially if your windows are tinted, stick with filament bulbs. You can try to look for those "cool blue" bulbs that are tinted blue so they light up whiter compared to stock.

This is what the 36 M-SMTs look like on my car:

More LED information

LED's come in 3mm 5mm 10mm, 1watt, 3watt, 5watt, You probably have 5mm. There are also differences in suppliers for the same product. one 5mm can be half as bright as a better brand. Some cars are going LED headlights next year so I would say that they can be as bright as you want you have to get the right product.
You can get better dispersement of light by sanding the top of the led bulb.

These LED bulbs don't use traditional style LEDs.

these are brighter SMTs guys..... it was mass failure. I plugged em in to my dome lights and they were brighter than stock by about 50% but too big to fit.

Either way, its good theory but no good for me.
