Made Up My Mind! Im Using VHT For My Tails (Updated w/ Pics)

So Yeah...i Finally made Up My Mind And Just Paint My Tails Myself. Not Only Is This The Cheaper Route, But I Think It Will Be Fun. Plus Kryptonkid07 With His Gti Is Going To Be Painting His With Me. So By This Weekend, We Should Be Able To Do It. That's If The Cans Come In. I Ordered Them Today. So We'll See. Ill Post Pics As Soon As I Get Them...

I Do Have One Question Though...after I Sand It Down And Spray Until I Get The Desired Color I Want. I Just Let It Dry, Then Wet Sand It Down, And Dry It Off With A Rag, Then Apply The Clear Coat? Im Just Confused About That Part.

sooo i see ur guna night shade them.. lol

but yeah, once you get the desired darkness, wet sand them down with a fine sandpaper.. somewhere around 2000+ grit.. it might be hard to find, but i know some shops carry very very fine sandpaper.
once you wetsand them down, rinse them off to get rid of all the debris... then clear coat away.. id say 2 or 3 coats.

good luck man, and post the pics when ya can.

keep a constant supply on the tail light and the sandpaper. you do not want any part of the tail lights to be dry and the sand paper will burn through the paint. take your time and listen closely if you hear any scraping stop look at the sand paper for any dirt or anything and keep rinsing the tails.

it is like clay baring the car, if you hear a grinding sound stop lol, you dont want to scratch the night shade.

then clear away, i used like 4 coats of clear lol

It gets out the imperfections in the paint without burning the paint off.

wetsanding gets out any imperfections in the paint.. such as dust that might have landed on it or runs.. make sure you keep a constant amount of water on the lights and the sandpaper or else itl eat through the paint and make it worse.

gl man.

2 coats is enough to black them out, and make them still shine through like normal
3 coats may be too dark, but it depends
there is no real difference in black levels between them
