Micro suede Dash Trim
Yea I'm usually not a fan of suede dash's but this is nice and simple and it's not the entire dash or interior, just a few pieces. Hope you get a how-to soon, I'd like to get this done when I go home for Thanksgiving Break.
I went to my local Jo-Ann fabrics. Picked up the microsuede, high heat spray adhesive and UV sunblock spray all from there. 1 yard of fabric ran me 11 bucks. Was around 10 for the adhesive and 10 for the UV spray.
I'll see what i can do on a how to. This seriously took me 2 weeks to do. Working 7 days a week and upkeep on the house does not make projects easy...even the little ones.
i just googled microsuede fabric and these are what popped up:
decent color selection and cheap. microsuedes are in the in the middle of the page.

another decent color collection

Yea I'll just hit up Jo-Ann's when I go home for break. I got like 5 days of no work or class so I should be able to finish it somewhat quickly. If not I'll just take it back to school with me lol. But for a how-to all it would really entail would be:
How to take pieces off. How to spray adhesive on plastic (any scuffing). How did you get the suede so tight. How did you do the edges (is the suede wrapped around the back or is it cut at the edge) How did you get it so tight and smooth?

I'll put this all in another thread when i get the chance.
isn't there a how to for removing the dash trim?
First thing i recommend is spraying your entire sheet of fabric with the UV spray first and wait for it to dry. Then scotch guard if you get it. Let it dry over night. I covered a piece first then sprayed it and the fabric shrank and pulled away from dash piece and i had to rip it off, sand down the glue and start again.
To prep the pieces just take 150 grit sandpaper over all the pieces. Don't have to go crazy on them. Just enough to rough up the surfaces.
I made sure to lay each piece down and cut the fabric so there was at least an inch overhang all the way around.
Once you have the fabric cut for all the pieces you will want to do one at a time. The spray adhesive is very messy. Try to make sure you wipe the nozzle after your done spraying each time.
I laid out the fabric (good side down) and coinciding dash piece then spray them both with adhesive. Don't go too crazy with it. It WILL bleed through the fabric. Might want to practice on something shitty first to get the hang of it. Wait for the glue to get tacky.
Then take the dash piece and put it onto the fabric. Start pressing/smoothing the fabric onto the trim and pull and stretch it to make the curves and edges nice.
Let them sit for a bit....or overnight.
I recommend trying to cut out the spots for the buttons and **** first. This was a huge pain. Good luck lol. If you mess up you can always start again.
After that I trimmed the outside edge a little. Don't cut it all the way down. Leave enough to wrap around the back of the edges. I used hot glue to secure all the edges down.
Everything should look nice and tight now. Re-assemble then dash and enjoy. I think pictures would make this all way easier to understand.

So I had prepped my interior trim for some painting. I have an 06 so I shaved the little useless black piece in the middle of the radio bezel and smoothed it all out. Primed it all....then work got crazy and months went by. Since it is now too cold to paint the pieces outside I decided on a different route. Wrapping in micro suede. Its not as durable at ultra suede or alcantara, but its good enough.
I bought a yard of micro suede fabric, which was way more than i needed. One can of spray adhesive and a bottle of UV sunblock. Still need to get some scotch guard to protect from getting wet.
Here is the end result
dont mind the hot glue stringiness....i need to vacuum it

I'm curious how this would look on a tan interior. I don't know if it will look as nice.
Also, for the flat strip that goes in between the radio and HVAC controls, mine has some thing about the passenger airbag and what not, its not flat. Is yours like that too?

Ah **** this damn airbag thing. I gotta brain storm on how I can get around this.
Maybe if I cut out an oval section for the indent where the airbag is. Here I'll post up a pic and you guys ca give me ideas lol
