Mini E55r's with 100MM CCFLs finally done.

Hey guys, so ive been putting together a retro for the last year, and with 2 kids in one year I literally get a few hours a month for car stuff aside from 247 forums at work.

So i bought a set of used mini h1's from a guy here and they were a mess, I thought I got a deal on them until I had to ship my headlights and pay shipping for his which ended up being $100 more but whatever.

So i pulled them apart, they had mickey mouse headlight tabs that were epoxied in place for whatever reason, someone must have broke everyone. So i got E55R shrouds from TRS along with 100MM CCFLS. (should be the first to do this)

The CCFLs dont sit flush, i pretty much had to cake on silicon to make them fit on but they did.

Anyways my big major gripe here is the GOD DAMN 9007 HARNESS PINS!!!! I have fought with this stupid pieces of **** for years now. First it was easy, just swap blue and white, but the heavy duty TRS harness uses different colors that dont make sense:

This is the only way they work somewhat right. In this position, the low beams are on when the high beam lever is pushed forward, in the normal position the highs are on.

If I put either color in the center, the low beams dont work, if I swap the outer ones, the lows work and highs dont. WTF obviously has to be a bad harness.

Anyways, I left the nuts loose to align then and didnt realize the shrouds clamped so tight so i screw the rotation up, rotating the shrouds and didnt have time to fix it tonight. Let me put it this way though.

Im using 55w AC ballasts, with DDM 8000k bulbs, the overall color is AMAZING, and the color flicker is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I was so happy driving up the street with horrible aimed jagged lights from not being aligned right but damn they look good. I used 5000k 35w before, wanted 55w and went to 6000k bulbs and they were still too white, 8k works perfect for me and they are very bright.

Heres some pics, no output shots yet sorry, might be a few days before I work on them again.

Hope you guys like it, wish i had decent enough alignment to post output pics but its embarrassing now. One last thing, what do you guys do for mini h1 alignment, if you dont have the ability to put them up with a power supply? It seems like every time I bolt them to the car they are aimed different because of all the wiring behind them.

I wanted to a be abit different and im in LOVE with the E55R shroud. Ive seen guys run 80mm ccfls on the inside ring but never 100mm on the outside.

setup your wiring so it's not all bunched behind the headlight, I had mine setup so that the connectors just barely made it through the back of the headlight bracket through one of the holes. Really as long as you get the rotation right, you can worry about height after you get the lenses back on as the stock adjusters still work.

that I can all figure out when I have time, its really the pins in the harness thats driving me crazy! I cant tell you how many times ive had issues, swapping the pins the way everyone says and having it still not work right. My old mercury sable had that issue with retros, use to toast high beam fuses for no reason. Ended up being 2 bad harnesses in a row.

Im thinking of using these for my retros Projector Shrouds: G37-R With either a red LED ring or Amber led ring that would be tied into the turn signals Or just do a Red CCFL
