But to the OP clean car and wonder over to the 2.4 section of the forum.
Like the color and looks clean! I had forgotten what my stock seats looked like!

The 'Sport' was early 08 after GMs deal with Eaton was over, hence the end of the SS/SC and before they came out with the SS/TC and were not badged as SS
From Wikipedia
OP Nice SS/NA Like the color
Any plans for modding?
From Wikipedia
The LSJ engine did not meet emissions requirements for the 2008 model year, and General Motors' contract with Eaton had expired. The non-supercharged 2.4 L Cobalt SS also lost its Super Sport designation for the 2008 model year and was renamed "Sport". However, in fall 2007, a more powerful Cobalt SS was announced for the second quarter of 2008.The car would be equipped with the 2.0 L, turbocharged LNF Ecotec engine

LSJ brakes (disc brakes in back unlike ls models)
FE3 suspension (shares the rear FE5 LSJ springs)
5 lug setup
Same catback as an LSJ
Same exhaust manifold as an LSJ
Larger front sway bar.
FE3 specific gauge cluster
2.4 LE5 engine (170hp)
etc....
And for what its worth the 2.4 can handle a good amount of abuse. And the automatic is technically stronger than the manual in the SS/SC's.
So yeah I guess you did waste your time
As for the whole "SPORT" thing. Sport was an 08 only badge. It does kind of suck explaining that Im an SS/NA but not an SS to people.

I find people on here retarded when it comes down to the SS N/A's.. "its not a real SS" well.. why does it have SS badges o.o. I mean I understand it doesn't do 0-60 in the 5's but it is still an SS model.

Typical post from a southerner! UP north we have salt and sand put down on the roads the will take the paint off the bottom area of the car. So if you want to send money each year to paint it we'll take the flaps off.
