Just rub at it with your thumb, thats what I did. The blisters will heal in a few days

The problem is that thick foam-like tape, the Goo Gone doesn't soak into it well. If you can get the worste of it off, the Goo Gone will get the rest of the left over adhesive.

Or...

You can pick up one of these. Attach it to a drill and it takes the foam and everything right off, doesn't scratch either. You can even use it to remove pin stripes and other vinyl decal. You can find them in most local autobody supply stores, or last resort, you could order through a local sign shop (Signs Now, Sign A Rama, FastSigns, etc.).

it is a pain in the ass. if you have a hair dryer, or heat gun. heat the left over 3m tape and try rubbing some more goo gone. thats what i had to do so dont worry.

To answer your orginal question, no you are not using it correctly. You don't spray it on and they wipe it off. Goo Gone works, but slowly. Spray it on to saturate. Then use a saturated cloth and rub the area, working from the edges of the spot. As adhesive transfers to the cloth, turn/fold the cloth so as not to spread it back onto the car. It's slow, be patient, and keep it wet.

halfcent is right. the 3m stuff works exactly the same too. it needs to sit and soak in. good luck.

Hmmm ok the weirdest thing happened to me last night...like i said up there ^^^ i spent last weekend trying to get tree sap off my hood/roof. I used GooBgone or something similar and it did an ok job but yesterday i noticed a couple big thick sap spots .

Anyways, later that night i stopped in at my parents place and told my dad about my problem. He says he has "just the thing" (old folks phrase of the the century) and heads into the kitchen. 5 mins later he comes back with a Costco sized jar of mayo... Long story short, we used god damn mayo on the sap and it f'ing worked like a charm. Wouldn't believe it if i didn't see it
