need your help. anyone. regarding stock headlamps..........
I want to remove the turn signal amber lense.....
without taking the headlamp apart.
you heard of the hobbiests building a sailboat inside a bottle .... right?
so what I want to do is break up the lense and pull out the pieces in through the socket.
so those of you with ideas or have taken the headlamp apart might give me some insight before I try. if I fail then I can just take it all apart I guess.
first off - how hard would it be to pop out the lense? screw drive through the socket might be able to knock it out?
Second - how could I break it up? I wanted to find long siscors or side cutters to cut it up from there.

The amber lens isnt hard at all to pop out from where it rests
However trying to "break" it inside the housing is a bad idea, you'll run a serious risk of cracking the outer housing.
Your best bet is to take the housing apart (yes i know you dont want to) or leave it in

the plan then with a long drill bit to drill a hole in the center and any other hole I can get in it. then pop out the lense. then if I get a long cutter to inside and break it up. it is not impossible. it is like laproscopic surgery.
just need the right tools.
Here maybe a tool that could be used? it is a sheet metal nippler.

Guess I came to the wrong place for help....
I was going to try and then if it fails I can take it apart.... so now can we concentrate on at least trying? where is McGivor when you need him?
I am trying to get an Idea of how to break up the lense. can anyone answer the following?
the lense is plastic?
Is it thick?
can side cutters cut through it?

The lens isn't extremely thick but it has some good weight to it. And the tool you showed won't be able to get into the hole to get at it. Your looking at a hole the size of the bulb that sits in there.

no **** sherlock. that is what I said in the first place......
Im not going to say that it cant be dont but from my experience in taking them apart to paint the inside this task seems highly unlikely. Why not just take it apart. Its not that hard to put it back together?

In general terms yes but you also told me it couldnt be done and stated something that I started with. its okay. some are narrow minded and others dont give up. If I can do without cracking it open I will, that is why I come to a forum - to get ideas. in that way your not answering the question and I am blinded by your outward negativty. do not know that this is not easy and can fail. I already have a plan for that. open it up if I have too.
now either think of a way to work with the problem if you could be bothered to do so. if not then just leave this thread alone. it will be ok if you do.
