just clean it real good then clay bar it. if you clay bar it its best to polish it then wax it afterwards. the best product you could use is meguairs thats what i always use and thats what i used at my old job. on the whole thing about how long it will take thats all on how long you wanna take and how good of a job you wanna do

all you really have to do is wash the car when i clay my car i wash it then i clay using the same soapy water (megs gold class car wash really sudsy good for clay) make sure u keep folding the clay or eles ur ganna scratch the paint i used to use megs nex gen paste wax its a good wax and it cheap you can find it at a walmart but if ur looking for something with great results and is really fast and easy i would go with system one spray wax you can order that on www.polishandwax.com its lasts just as long as most carnuba waxes (around 3 months give or take) the nxt gen past wax is ganna be a little harder and is goin to take longer then system one wax (thats y i like using the system one over the paste) and as far on how long its ganna take all depends on how much u pay attention to detail and routine and what not but deff. count on about at least 3 hours hope i helped you out a little

follow these steps

pre-soak
scrub with soap
rinse
clay bar
wash again
rinse
pull car in shade and dry with micro fiber
get out your pre wax( if you have it) and apply it
use a dry micro fiber to buff it out
get out your wax and apply it
use a different microfiber towl and buff it out

then all you gotta do is tire shine and your golden!

i use turbowax and i love it it usually takes me about 3-4 hrs, but nxt time i gotta buff out swirls so it will take a lil bit longer

Spend a few hours reading through there, you can get an amazing amount of knowledge. I love my P21S wax, but am very interesting in trying the TurboWax products, they are a supporting vendor here and I've read a lot of good things about them. Think I'll have to buy their line-up for the spring.

yeah i personally love meguiars products. yeah the polish is supposed to be done before the wax. then wax it up and pull it into the light and whipe it all of with the microfiber. im pretty much a professional HAHAHA jk. i loved detailing cars when i used to do it.

Take your sweet ass time on waxing. The more in detail you go the better it will come out. Also make sure to get all the white off the car afterwords. All the little cracks and grooves will look like crap.

If you go to Autozone there is an enitire Migures cleaning and waxing kit with everything you need and a How-To. Got if for my dads Vette. Miguires is by far my favorite. (except for interior. Leaves it looking kinda greacy)

Its hard to get a good wash at the car wash, especially when you need a really good wash/bar/wash if you're going to do a good detail. I live at school at the moment, I got the maintenance guys to let me use a hose and some space once, might be worth a shot. Most times for a real detail I just drive home and do it, but don't know if thats practical depending how far from home you are.
