New Spoiler Install: Bolts, glue, both?

Hi.

After doing a search in this forum and reading some posts, it sounds like the factory GM spoilers are installed with both bolts and some kind of adhesive? Does anyone know if it's 3M tape or some type of construction adhesive?

I just got a new ABS low-rise for my LT and haven't put it on yet. I'm wondering how other guys have done it, with supplied hardware, glue, or both. Does it need glue and hardware to get a good installation?

The spoiler I have has threaded holes in the base, into which supplied bolts will go. I kind of expected studs to be mounted in the spoiler and nuts for the other side. Is this how all spoilers work?

Thanks for your help!

Is this a OEM spoiler or aftermarket? My aftermarket spoiler came with some little tab things that stuck in the little holes to show you where to drill the holes in your trunk. After the trunk holes were drilled, then you thread the studs into the spoiler, through the trunk, and attach it with the nuts. I ended up needing longer bolts because they did not line up with the spaces underneath where the stock spoiler would have gone.

This is an aftermarket spoiler. It has threaded holes tapped in the spoiler mounting points and comes with four bolts- no studs.

Just wondering if I should use some sort of glue too, since that seems to be what GM does with factory spoilers.

Elmers and some elbow grease (pick it up at your local Autozone or Advanced AP) will do the trick.

GM glues theirs down to make it harder to swap out
Hmmm perhaps some LocTite on the bolts will work. Just check the bolts from time to time. I haven't had any problems with my spoiler coming loose.
