i dont wetsand between coats. with real paint you cant do that, so i dont treat rattle can any different. You shouldnt need to honestly its a waste of time. Spray your coats with the proper amount of flash time that the paint provider recommends (read the can, its there for a reason) so they chemically bond to eachother, then if theres imperfections wetsand and buff. Sanding between coats is a waste of time IMO. if it works for you more power to ya but now your doing 4x the work depending on the amount of coats you do and your work wont have any less texture then if you wetsanded the texture out at the end and buffed it back to a gloss. Plus now you run the risk of wrinkling a finish if you spray, let dry, wetsand, spray, etc. If you let one sit too long the paint applied over the top can easily wrinkle whats underneath. Its sketchy and not worth it

i wetsand because I know I'm heavy handed and will tend to have runs in my paint. I normally stick to the 3-3 rule. 3 coats paint, 3 coats clear. Don't if the clear is glossy, I stick to 3 coats MAX. As soon as I lose feeling in my fingers, i start thinking that wetsand is a waste of time, until i remind myself about the **** poor job i did the first time I vht'd my tails. Since then, I've wetsanded religiously. That and I apply a coating of wax and that **** get nice and chiney... sorry the little beaner in me popped out...

i mean if it works for ya then do what you gotta do, but if you do what i was saying itll just save you time and aggrivation in the future. Painting is full of aggrivation though, thats why im trying to avoid doing it for a living and would rather do something else and do painting on the side as extra money. though you never really make much money helping people out

I FINALLY got mine done. I'm just in the process of ordering my new grille. I'm getting a 08+ grille put on, and I'm debating on whether to put a lower grille on. I did mine flat black.

Agreed. Someone ran down the side of my car in a parking lot and left me to find it the next day. As a cheap fix I sanded, primed, repainted, and cleared it myself with rattle can (color match is off but not noticeable til you're close). So far I've halfway wetsanded and buffed. Not that I don't have the time, I just don't want to do it But in the next year I'm gunna get it fixed professionally. Plus someone decided to do it again when I moved back to Houston and I'm not touching it.

Well I sent in my car to have this mod done in flat black vinyl today.....
It is going to eventually look great but when I got it back today I was pissed!! How hard is it to cut a straight line?
They also didn't listen to me when I told them several times to follow the lines of the inlet. They just decided to cut it off at a straight line going down!!

They will be fixing it tomorrow. Just lazy if you ask me

But on a positive not, the color is perfect and it does look really aggressive

I've seen plastidip come in red. My buddy in a g5 gt did it for a car show. He took it off shortly afterwards.

Just tape off what you don't want painted then put news paper behind what you don't want painted and then put a bed sheet on the car (taped down of course) then spray away. Or take your front bumper off tape and spray.

Yes, I'll agree with that. I actually painted my lower and upper grill along with the two in the back at the same time as the "EVO X" mod.
