Was going to redo it with white base coat, but by the time I got to doing it I researched it more and found out it would fade too soon so figured I'd go with a different color. Right now it's down to matte white and nimbus grey...

Good question haha. It was just some gray I found on the color wheel in my photo editor.
Can't decide I want to go with anthracite or charcoal gray on the wheels.

Go with black with only a couple of coats of metalizer. Will give you darker look while looking awesome if you don't want them to be as metallic as mine.

So I ended up going with my own mix of "Aviator Grey"... It's almost identical to the color we painted our Navy jets... It's dark out so I only have a copule of sneak peek pictures. First thing is first...

In the mix:
  • 1 Gallon of sprayable Gunmetal Grey PD
  • 2 Gallons of sprayable White PD
  • 1 full can of Silver Metalizer (left over from the wheels project)
  • 6 grams of Silver Pearl EX powdered pigment
  • 6 grams of Interference Violet Pearl Ex powdered pigment
  • 6 grams of Duo Red-Blue Pearl Ex powdered pigment

Mixed everything in a 3.5 gallon bucket (pre-mixed silver metalizer through the straw with all the Pearl Ex powders in about 10 OZ of Naphta thinner, then dumped into a bucket)

Left my hood, roof, trunk, cross bar, mirrors, and pillars undipped since I wrapped them in CF vinyl a few weeks ago. Let me know what you think. Will take more pictures later.

^ Reminds me of the crashed, plastidipped primered-looking LSJ for sale on here a while back.

Well, this one isn't LSJ, isn't crashed, and DEFINITELY isn't for sale. :P .

Thanks. That's the look I wanted. Reminds me of the military jets I used to work on in the navy.

Nobody else plastidips anything anymore? I'm borderline considering dipping mine camo now that I have the "aviator grey" primer looking base for it...

Definitely. Ordered 3 gallons of light blue, 1 gallon of black and 1 gray. Hoping to mix the light blue and black to get a dark blue and then go gray on the wheels, spoiler, and maybe some other little things.
