well i just put my wheels and rims on last weekend and gave the car a nice cleaning this weekend. When i got them taken off in the winter i washed them good and put them away so no salt or anything was on them, but i noticed today that i have one wheel that is flaking bad, i think im gonna call GM tomorrow as well.

My rims did the same thing, The dealership will warrenty them for you no problem, unless they are dicks. Bumper to bumper warrenty includes the wheels. I just hope they don't f'up your wheels like mine. The new wheels i got last week look great except one. When installing the tires on one wheel the tire machine hit a spoke destroying the finish on the wheel. Hope these don't flake off in anouther 10,000. Needless to say the dealer is paying for a new one right now, but I got to wait anouther week, hopefully I will have it on my car by IDD7. They bitched about two of my wheels cause i curbed the driver side"oopppsss!!!!" but I argued that I didn't mind the curbmarks at the outside edge but the paint falling off in flakes the size of dimes all over the spokes upset me alot. I mean you could hardly see the curb marks but the paint spots were an eyesore that can bee seen 20 ft from the car. Plus I asked the warrenty is not extended for the new wheels the warrenty will only be good till the car hits 36,000 whether you take them off during witer miles or not. If you guys are not having problems with your wheels now be sure to check them real close before the warrenty expires!!!!!

Any one else have there shifter cap fall off??? I also had the braket on the SC holding the coolant resovoir break in two!! And the damn sunroof rattles.

I got my one wheel f'ed up from a car wash, but I am fairly sure most of them are bubbling... Ill take it in for service and see if they will repaint all of them.

Call Chevy Cust Assistance!!!

Well guyz i have had same problem with wheels flaking for a while now and the dealer is not wanting to help me out. They claim this is something not covered! I am about to start cracking some ****** skulls If GM doesn't step up to the plate on this issue! I have been talking to chevrolet customer assistance helping me resolve this. I advise everyone with this problem to contact CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE at (800) 222-1020 asap and get on the phone with a rep. to file a complaint and check into the replacement of your flaked wheels! I am currently in the process and i hope this issue is resolved soon! The good thing is if enough people complain Chevy should have a tsb or recall!

well I just got back from my dealership right now, they took off my tires and rims and put on my winters for a few days and they are sending mine out monday to be refinished. They told me 4 days so we'll see. I don't know how bad some of ur rims are but my one rim almost the size of my palm the entire paint has flaked off so most definately there is a problem with them!

I'm glad to see some dealers are willing to do something about this. Now if i could get mine to do the same. The GM represenative (over the service manager) declined my request but i am not done with them yet! I am gonna keep going higher and higher till i get someone to cooperate! Others that have this problem, please keep going to your dealerships to report this issue!

Checked with the dealer

Checked with my dealer and showed him and also called chevy. Was shocked that he was so willing to look at it .We both talked abit and i pretty much decided to wait this one out since i got 3 years and 36000 miles. He was even saying if theres enough problems with the wheel chevy will step up and maybe do something else with the wheels. So if you have a problem id be calling chevy and letting these folks know.In the mean time im going to play the waiting game and see what happens.

Well, my car just rolled over 500 miles today and this is what I was rewarded with:

Looks like I will stop by the dealer tomorrow and see what they can do. I have a feeling that this is going to be a pain.

I also have to say this is happening to me, does anyone want me to start a website with a custom interface to accurately track problems like these? I am not satisfied that GM understands the problems with our cars and I feel I could build a database of problems that shows them exactly the extent of the problem in a method that's obvious to them.

Im thinking of calling it newgmowners.com and simply you'd enter your problem, pictures if you have any, and enter your VIN to authenticate your car. Then other users could sign-up under the same problem, supplying their VIN also to generate a database of the problems!

Think it's a good idea?

I could get the site done this week and we could promote it to all owners of the cobalt, I think it'd be extremely effective to get GM's ass in gear about our problems!

I think that that is a pretty good idea, although it seems pretty pathetic that GM's customer support is soo bad that we need to take stuff like this into my own hands. Heck, I told them that my speedometer was inaccurate and they told me that there is nothing they can do. Now I have done some research and am going to take my car in there and tell them what they need to do, this is pathetic. BTW, so far there has been no progress with my wheels, and I have gotten a couple more chips. I love my car, I just hate everything related to the company that is came from.

Hmmm , sorry yalls dealers seem to suck so bad . My wheels were replaced with no hassles at all , anything Ive ever needed done to the car has been done no questions asked . Its not the fact GM doesnt care or is not aware of various problems , unfortunately its the more than a few dealer franchises that give GM a bad name by their arrogant crappy service .

BTW - My replacement wheels have been awesome . The chipping wheels I'm about positive just came from one bad batch from GM's supplier , that wasnt prepped properly causing the bad paint adheshion . The people with chipped or flaking wheels are definately in a small minority

Hmm, weren't you just the guy that had to replace his own head gasket because the dealership wouldn't do it.....
