I have 09 ss and want to get the rims blacked out and im not sure if i should paint or powder coat? pros and cons of both im on the east coast and want them to hold up after these winters.

 

Powdercoat:
Pro's:
- More durable than paint

Con's:
- More expensive. The initial cost of the powdercoating itself is a bit expensive, plus the cost of then getting ur tires unmounted/remounted and wheels balanced after.
- Still not impervous to chipping

Paint:
Pro's:
- Less expensive
- More color choice
- More customization options
- paint with tires on

Con's:
- Do chip easily


Both can be touched up with touchup paint if they they get chips and niks in them. Powdercoat youll have to find ur color though and the touhup will be paint and not powdercoating obviously.

Honestly since ull see alot of nasty winters id go powdercoating.

 

i would go with the powder coat, plenty of my friends have gotten powder coating done with slim to none problems. once i get my T/C i plan on getting them coated black

Powder coat. I'm going to get my rims two tone powder coated (to match how they're painted ATM). I haven't gotten a quote on what it'll cost yet but I'm excited to have it done.

 

bring the lube for the ass rape. You might not feel it as much i can see them charging a good amount for 2-toning like ur rims

if ur girflriend helped wearing what she is in ur sig id do them errday

 

thanks for the feedback. i know a guy through work and he said abut $450 to do all 4 wheels the way i want them in black.
