Painting my calipers
Painting my calipers
I was wondering how to paint or have my calipers painted yellow to match the color of my car in this particular way. I would like to have the caliper and brembo design be flush and smooth on the face of the caliper, rather than to have them painted, and with the brembo sticker on them, be able to tell that they were just painted and a brembo sticker was put on them. What I mean by that is like with the way they come from the factory it obviously says "brembo" on it, but when you rub that area its flush, the design is embetted into the caliper so there is no distiction from caliper and design. They are one. I want it like that for me and also so ppl aren't like "ok he painted the calipers and just put a brembo sticker on it."At least for the ppl who dont know the 08+ cobalts came with them. So basically, I want the brembo design to be there like how it comes from the factory, but after being painted, to not be able to feel any sort of sticker coming up from it. Is this possible? If someone could help me out that'd be great. I can try to explain it better if this doesn't make sense. Thanks a lot!
your overthinking this.........
if it really bugs you, just apply your decal after the base coat then clearcoat over the whole thing. thats about as close as it really gets to being "flush"

Your overthinking it way too much. I have had Evo, STI, and all other sorts of car owners tell me that my gold painted Brembos with a decal on them look great. You won't notice it and unless someone is really there touching it they wouldn't know.
I just painted my brembos a few months ago.
I used g2 paint and took my time. It came out great and the brake dust comes right off when I wash the car. I did 5 coats, cuz the white takes coats to cover ,
then after it dried i put the brembo stickers on.
Then i did 3 coats of clear hi temp spray can over top of it.
Its been a few months now and its holding like new. I can kinda see it in my sig not really tho lol.
Ohh and g2 will do color match paint for you as well
Goodluck !

or... if you have an airbrush, print up a brembo logo, trim out the brembo part, and spray it with the airbrush like a stencil. bam, no raised decal. yellow, what wheels did you throw on the bueat of yours?
i dont see why it would be ricey at all. black would blend in mre then say a yellow or an orange or green or brighter color. that being said why paint them at all if you are going to go a dark color that blends in?

Are you asking me what wheels i have ? If so, enkei falcon lol
I don't see how painting a drum is ricey...unless it's an obnoxious color in comparison to the rest of the car (green calipers on a blue car etc.)
I plan on painting my drums and calipers either silver or the color of my car. I'd rather have it painted than look oxidized and shitty.

I went with black drums just until I do the rear disc swap.

I'd say that looks better than rust colored any day.
