Painting Valve Cover

I'm planning on painting my valve cover this weekend and i was wondering about the rubber gasket under the valve cover. will it be ok? or would i have to replace it? If anyone painted there's already how durable is the gasket so i know how careful to be.
Thanks

doesn't need to be replaced unless you've broken it upon removal of the valve cover

It's dupi-color high temp engine enamel gunmetal color. I used Dupi-color primer paint and clear. All high temp.

Anyone have a color suggestion. I drive a sunburst orange cobalt, so im think which color would be a unique setup with that orange. I got cast iron at first but i thought about it so im thinking about takeing the can back and getting a different color. Any opinions???

anyone?
