projector/HID questions

alright, i'm probably going to get flamed for asking this because it might have been asked before but i am a noobie and i apologize.

i have a couple questions and you guys are the only ones i know that can answer them.

ok so i bought the old style projectors from www.genkituning.com and i like them but i want to upgrade to an HID kit. i haven't decided between 5000k or 6000k yet but my dad asked someone at car toys and they said that an HID kit could melt the projector lens? is that true?

and also, i'm pretty sure all the projectors are the same and a lot of people have HID's in them but mine came with a sticker that says no HID bulb. does this mean i can't get HID's with these projectors?

sorry again for being such a noobie but i am seriously considering HIDs soon and i need these questions answered. thanks.

No, if anything normal halogens melt the lenses. Hids put out a lot less heat than halogens.

Also with the old style projectors you might have to drill or notch a small hole for the return lead on the hid, its simple and anyone can do it.
As for those lights saying "No HIDs" I think they put that there to cover their asses.
Get HIDs for the lows, and put Silverstar Halogens in your highs. Both are H1 types.

The halogen bulbs do, as well as the sylvania silverstar bulbs. And I think it is because with our projectors the beam is not spread out like it should be. The beam is more focused in a central area if you understand what I mean.

But as for the HID's, they will not melt the lense cause they burn cooler than halogen bulbs. I asked the same thing on here. haha

Yes, any Halogen will melt them, but putting HIDs in the highs is redundant and twice as expensive. Its a waste imo, unless you're driving out in country roads 24/7 then you really only use your highs for a little bit at a time; even then the projector highs give off so much light with halogens I doubt you'd notice much of an improvement. I mean you don't even have to put Silverstars in there if you don't want to, just a suggestion.

I have Onex 6000K HID lows, and SilverStar Ultra Highs, and have had them for a year. Both lights when aimed correct are extremely good! If you need HID highs over SilverStars, you have too much money. Oh ya, and no problems whatsoever with "melting" or anything other than snow!

oh and also, somebody help me make up my mind between 5000K and 6000K, i don't think i want 8000K because they're a little too blue for me and i don't want to attract any negative attention from the cops haha

I have 6000K, they're right on perfect balance between white and blue. Best light output while still retaining a blue colour.

alright, and what about finding those silverstar ULTRAS in an H1 size, because i called a ton of autozones in this area and they all said they didn't carry the ULTRAS in H1s so i finally called pep boys and they say they're not even available, but i could have sworn i've seen people on here talk about having the ULTRAS in their high beams
