Unhappy Rear bumper "popping" out

I just bought my '06 Cobalt SS/SC Monday, and noticed this the other day at the gas station.

It could of been there before without me noticing.

Does anyone know how to push it back in? I have no idea where the mounting points on these bumpers are, and looking under the car I couldn't see anything.

Think there's any chance this is covered under warrenty? That way I just don't have to deal with it?

Thanks for the help!

ya mine does that a little on one side, you could take it in and have it fixed under warranty but decided it really was not bad.

might wanna pull it out a little more to see if the clip is broken. or to see if you are even pushing the clip into the hole....

itll snap in if its not broken and not in the wrong spot....

Do you have aftermarket taillights? I found this on mine as well -- caused by the IPCW taillight assy on the passenger side. You may need to put in some spacers, the taillight could be pushing in the rear fascia causing it to bulge out.

It's a possibility the car was in a minor rear end impact before.

Stock everything on the car and a clean history as well.

i'll probably take it to a chevy dealer to have them take a look at it. i bought the car used at a ford dealership and they didn't know a damn thing about the car

Just take the bumper off and send it to me. Mine fits fine, so I will send you mine.

Just don't read that I drive an LT anywhere okay?

Well, I plan on getting up nice and early come Saturday to see what the dealer says, so I'll let everyone know what happens then.

after, what? two and a half months? i finally went to get it done after being ran around god knows how many times about a loaner car, and the "new management" refused to warrent it because the "rear taillamps, headlights, and deck lid have obviously been removed, so they believe it was in an accident."

Now, I'm not saying the bumper has never been hit, I have no idea if it has or not. But when I took the car to the dealership, and they said they'd fix it, my car was 100% stock. Since then, yes, I've removed the headlights and taillights for paint. The decklid, I have no idea....

Either way, I hate that dealership and wont go back because of the run around I had to deal with.

SO! New question.... how -exactly- is the side of the bumper held in? I just came back from ******* with it and I couldn't figure it out. Looking through the hole of the taillight, I couldn't see anything... looking from the bottom up, I couldn't see anything. Trying to push it into place doesn't work either, it doesn't want to grab.

Any ideas?
