Replacing the Steering Wheel

Well after all these years, the leather on my steering wheel is deteriorating. Has anyone dealt with this before? I would like to just replace it with a stock wheel, but for one I can't find any, and two messing with the airbags scares me a little. Thoughts?
Thanks!

And sorry if this better belongs in maintenance.

I've taken mine apart a couple times. Just disconnect the battery and wait like 10-15 minutes. Then there ae 2 small pin holes on either side of the wheel. You'll need something that fits in there but is hard enough it won't bend. You push them in one at a time and it releases the air bag. Then you have a harness that you need to upleg for the airbag. There are a couple more harnesses that need to be unplugged from the clock spring. I forget what size nut it is in the middle of the steering wheel. I'd mark it somehow so you know where to line the splines up for reinstall.
