Retrofit build

Hey guys well the time has finally come and I think I'm going to start my first retrofit build. I have stock OEM lights that I will be using, probably going to go ahead and paint those black. Now I will be ordering the Mini H1 kit from TRS. I know that alot of people are going with the FX-R projectors now, but I also heard there is alot more cutting and drilling (correct me if I'm wrong). Also I'm unsure with what shroud to go with. I was thikning maybe the E46 or E55, not to sure on fitment tho. I will be getting it with the 9007 adapters. My one question is with ordering when it gets to the part about the wiring harness do I choose the option with the 9004/9007 harness? I will keep this thread updated as my build gets going. I have alot of spare time on my hands so I figured I would take making these as a hobby! Thanks for the help!

Based on your question, yes order the 9004/9007 harness. Also a recommendation is to get some dielectric grease for all the connections to prevent corrosion if you drive your car in the winter. The E46-R Extended shroud fits nice based on my experience and I have seen the E55 in a set before. The Gatling Gun fits nice also.

yea.. i gotta get ambition to build up a LED array that could fit directly into the tails.. been looking into making circuit boards and all that fun stuff first to learn about it, then hopefully by later this year i'll be willing to tackle them.. so yea.. your not alone in the quest for LED tails.. first I'm going to learn on the 3rd brake light though

Just some pictures of the lights finished. Overall I think that they turned out pretty good. There are some slight imperfections but hey for my first set I wouldn't expect them to be perfect. I decided to go with a reflective paint that wasn't as bright as stock turn signal reflector

Yea it's a big ass shroud! Didn't have too many problems with this one, I think it's a very good looking shroud. I'm already planning my next build. Maybe go with some real projectors out of like a Audi or something lol
