Side View Mirror Cover install?

Hey everyone,

I'm new here. My wife got a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS, and her one complaint about the car was the side view mirrors being all black, so we recently picked up the side-view mirror covers for the car, unfortunately they don't come with any install instructions.

Is there anyone around here that might have installed these? It seems like just a simple matter once I know how to do it, but I don't want to screw up the old black plastic covers when removing them.

Any help would be appreciated.

they don't just pop off with a mini screw driver?

I was thinking about getting those expecting a pretty easy install..

Well, They might, the problem is I would prefer not to trash the original's, I was hoping that someone else had done it and could offer a tip or two to doing it the right way.

Let me elaborate. I went out this morning and started messing with removing the originals just a bit and quickly realized that they're pretty flimsy, so I quit messing with them because it looked like they'd break or possibly damage the entire assembly. They seem very loose in some places and then extremely tight in the outside corners. heh.

So if anyone's done it, I'd appreciate some tips on what you did.

I have pulled mine off by accident before. They are just clipped on and pull off real easy. They went break just give them a little bit of pressure.

Yeah as it turns out the passenger side had to be finagled a bit. Later when I tried the driver side it came off almost too easily for my tastes, then I went back and fiddled with the passenger side and got it off as well.

Turned out being a lot easier than I thought it would. Thanks for all the help.

I changed mine with a miniture screw driver and it didn't hurt the originals at all. They just pop right off, but make sure you try and keep the right touch with it.
