Stock 16" Alloys flaking finish...
Hey guys,
I am looking for some technical advice/help on what to do with my stock 16" Alloy wheels on my 2009 LT. It has about 60,000 miles on it already so my Bumper-To-Bumper warranty is gone.
Honestly they've been flaking for probably the past 1.5years. Slowly. I noticed one day when I took it to the dealer. I told the service agent one of my center caps had come off and I wanted it replaced. He seen what looked like a chip on the wheel and claimed I hit something to make it come off. I hadn't hit anything but I also didn't realize it was actually the finish coming off on its own. I lived in Ohio and now live in Kentucky. I'm sure the various seasons and Winter road salt are not friendly to wheels, but they are WHEELS, they're suppose to withstand all of that. To this day I still have not ran into or rubbed up against anything with these wheels.
So what can I do to fix this? Is it a do-it-yourself refinish, or an expensive pro job? Are they worth fixing or can I get pristine stock replacements for cheap? Or do I need to give up and go after market? I am fine with the look of the OEM wheels, I just want to the car overall in good shape.
Thanks in advance!

well, if you wanna colour them i'd sand and spray.
or buy new after market rims (much nicer)
OOORRRif you really like those, people usually GIVE those away lol
if you're set on a project, then you can wetsand those and take the peeling **** off, then use some duplicolour wheel clear coat spray, then buff to a shine
