Taking Lenses Apart
Hey guys. How do we get lenses apart? I've tried baking them at 200 and taking them out and twisting them and then putting them back in. Nothing happened. I even tried raising the temperature. I'm trying to get the inner tail lights apart, and the sealant just isn't budging. Am I not doing something right or what? Please help!

Wow!! That's really high!! The highest I got up to was 250...and the back was a little soft from when I took it out. Anyone else think I should go higher in temperature?

I did my headlights at 225-250, i dont remember exactly, but be careful going to high, I have a friend who tried to do his (different car though) and melted the lens at 350. If anything, try leaving them in longer at the lower temp.

Ok...I'll put the temperature at 225 and leave them in there for a while longer. If not...I don't know what else to do.
Does it matter that I'm putting the lights on a cookie sheet? I didn't think it would be a good idea to place them directly on the oven trays. These are the inner tail lights that we're talking about...keep in mind.

you can always stick a heatgun or a hair dryer where the lightbulb goes, that worked well for me just hold it there for a while, but be carefull it could melt the little square orange light cover inside the headlight

Are the TAIL lights assembled the same way as the HEAD lights?
Not pulled mine out to look but they may have used a different adhesive than what is in the headlights.
Just a thought......

The headlights come apart easily. Bake at 200* for 30 minutes and pop the clips and pull them apart...Use windshield sealant to seal them back up...I"d do the same for the tails

Ok...I got one apart...working on the other. What I did was bake at 200* for like 5 minutes...then pulled them out and stuck a flat head down in the sealant and twisted...this pulled the sealant from the lenses. After a while, the sealant starting coming out in chunks and eventually came apart.

I've got to let the sealant dry for 24 hours...but I think I'll let it dry for about 3 and put them in...it's not like I'm driving anywhere until tomorrow anyway.
