And yes, I, personally, would consider underbody lights to be rice. One of the worst looking things you could butcher a car with.

How the hell can you think window tinting is rice? In Phoenix EVERYBODY has at least 35% most likely it is more. And detailing your car? Its to keep it looking good and the body in good condition! Not to mention if you want to go to a show to win awards thats part of the deal. And projectors serve the only purpose to a HID bulb. HIDs BELONG in projectors, they go hand in hand.... VISIBILITY IMPROVEMENT

I don't think it is rice... but based on people's definition's of rice, tint and detailing are Rice. But that is just how dumb people are. Do you see nascar or hardcore drag racers tinting or detailing their cars? .... well maybe detailing but thats just for show and to make sponsors happy. All I am trying to do is crush the ignorants people's perspective as rice. But as soon as you attack something that everyone does for simple VISUAL improvement, everyone gets on the defensive. Projectors are still rice under the definition. no added power, no better handling. just more light.... well, track cars that are all go, no show... dont need better lighting.

Looking good - That is everyones definition of rice. But the OP wants to put neons because HE thinks it looks good.
Win Awards at a show - That is the definition of show but no go, according to people on this site the only awards or anything that matters is the track awards. Plus thats what the OP wants, cars with good neon installs win awards at shows.
Visual Improvement - Visual is not performance and therefore by every ignorant persons definition.... rice.

NASCAR no. Drag racing no need. Go to a road course on an open track day and you will see some of the most detailed cars ANYWHERE. Sticky tires + sand, stones, and dirt = leaving with 1/3 of the paint you came with.

 

In my state FL blue or red street glow (blue and red is reserved for emergency vehicles only) gets your car impounded :/ wish I could use blue street glow

I am simply making the point that just because a mod is done for appearance purposes doesn't make it rice. Because we have ALL done appearance only mods.

Personally, I hate that people think everything is rice. No one will really appreciate or do anyhting new because its called rice. I know I have done stuff to my car that is called rice by this site (fake window louvers). But I never pretended it was the real thing, I liked the way it looked, didn't care if people didn't on here, hell I make fun of myself for it when I am talking to D4U2S0T. But when I drive around and go to any auto parts store or any dealership, or any mechanic I get the same response. "Holy **** that looks amazing, I love the way that looks, it really fits with the car"

Why do we need to talk down on people who do things for appearance. Some guys want all go, no show. Some want show and go, and some want show but no go. If they have a daily driver that they want to enter into shows on the weekend... well than that IS their performance. Their performance is measured by appearance.

My opinion is that rice is anything that is tacky and not tasteful. Underglow body lights I think are tasteful. A bench wing, 101 stickers, and a primed body kit however are not.

Underbodies where you cannot see the bulb, and the color complements the car are fine by me. I owned some and am buying more soon. You can please some people all of the time. And please all the people some of the time, but you can never please all the people all of the time.

I have a blue cobalt and getting a 7 color ( for future endeavours) kit and an orange kit later down the line. That isnt rice. it is no different than a tattoo. Plus since I pay the note on my car, nobody is allowed to tell me what to do with it.
