Thumbs up V-LEDs V3 Triton Switchbacks pre-ordered!

V3 TRITON 6K WHITE AMBER TYPE 2 SWITCHBACK MULTI-APPLICATION HIGH POWER LED LIGHT SYSTEM 7443 1157 3157 | 1 PAIR B/O

Just pre-ordered some of these switchbacks to replace the 92 LED type 2 switchbacks I have in my front turn signals. With blacked out housing (painted black with clear coat), the white looks bright, but the amber is not up to par in broad daylight (on a sunny day) IMO.

These new lights are supposed to put out 600 lumens in white and 430 in amber. Should be BRIGHT!

EDIT: Will add pictures of these installed in black housings when I receive them (hopefully Saturday). For now, pictures of these installed in Depot halo headlights on page 5 here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appe...30/index5.html

So what are your plans for the old bulbs? Maybe sell to me for cheap?

judging by the heat sink on those things, they should be pretty powerful. Bout time the aftermarket plug and play bulb community starting getting some quality, high power leds instead of the cheap junk that makes up 99% of the market. I'd love to pick up similarly made bulbs for brake/turn signal/reverse.

According to V-LEDs, yes. They're also working on an inline resistor setup that will be plug and play with these.

Yeah, I'm stoked about them too. My reverse LEDs are already pretty powerful and tails are K2 skyline style, so I'm keeping those. Plus they don't come in the small base (yet), and our reverse is the 921 small base, so will have to wait...

As far as brake/turn signals - they have those available on the site too. They're a bit pricey, but way worth it IMO if you have the stock housings.

As far as brightness, at 600/430 lumens they'll be the brightest LED turn signal/parking light on the market! The white is 60% of stock low beam lumens!

In parts, maybe you'll get a set of retros for $200, then all the time to put them together. Or buy them used for around that. But I already have retros, so this was the last thing I wasn't happy with in my whole front light setup (turn signal not bright enough IMO)

$100? Are the including a BJ with them?

If they truly look as good as they do in the vid, I might be interested in some of them. A lot of the cheapo bulbs look like that, cheap. How in the hell do these work? Are the wires coming off the bulb used for a separate power source?

So does that mean no cutting into the stock wiring? The resistor will be attached with the bulb?

Will these work for the turn signal that are also used DRLs?

The wires coming off attach to adapter of your choice.

According to them, the inline resistors will be plug and play, no cutting required.

And, IIRC, they will work with both regular running lights and running lights that use high filament to shine white and only switch to amber when turn signal is activated.

EDIT: just found this on their FB page (answer to a customer)

When the parking light (low) or DRL (high) is on the color of the bulb will always be white. When the turn signal is applied the white shuts off and only the amber will come on. There is no other bulb in the world that can do this!

Nice, built in resistor and DRL compatible. I am sold.

Did they give you an estimated release date when you pre ordered?

Not sure, but since my front signals are already wired up with resistors, I'll use those for now.

I would too, if my turn signal housings weren't blacked out.

Yes, I asked that exact question on their FB post, here's their answer:

So my guess is I got another month to wait. But, from what it looks like, they're worth the wait. They're brighter than stock lights for sure. I'll post up a picture of them comparing them (off their FB page)

Lightbulb

Here are the comparison shots mentioned in the post above:

These are obviously single color amber V3s (not switchbacks), but they show the difference. White light on the switchbacks should be even brighter.
