how bout some kind of black grille to go across that whole section?
my friend got a billet grille for his 05 stang and it actually latches over his original grille. it has screws and little latches that connect on the edge of a honeycomb on the grill, if uve seen the new mustang u know what i mean.

i think something like that def seems possible. i wish i could fabricate it. in my head it doesnt sound hard at all. something like a black billet grille. have some latches to connect over the stock grille.

even take something like this but the bottom grille. paint it black.

if thats the same dimensions as the top, rig a way to attach a couple screws with the latches and latch it on the the stock grill.

i would like it to look like that after sticking an SS logo on it

am i crazy or does it make sense to anyone else?

One of the other members mentioned painting/vinyling the central grille piece that we all have. I know as well that some members have done this, with varying degrees of success. Below is one members painted grill, as you can see (at least from a distance) it certainly toughens up the front of the car -

My question/idea - would any vendors be interested in producing a black central grille cover out of the exact same plastic as the rest of the stock grille slats. Something inexpensive to produce and easy bolt on, with fastners. Just a piece of black plastic that goes right over that somewhat girlish yellow, red, blue or silver bar.

This would allow 'Balt owners (me - and I'm sure others) a good way to create the apperance above without permanently altering their vehicle.

Think about it vendors - a thin piece of plastic universal for all model 'Balts that you could easily sell for $20 a piece. Any takers?

Does it look like a new civic? a lil bit
Does it look cleaner ? for sure
Do I really like this and hope I could have this on my balt ? SURE DO!!!

I have been thinking the same thing, and that looks great. In my opinion, just use a piece of black vinyl... seems easier and cheaper to me. Then stick the bowtie back on, or not. I also was thinking of hacking out the center piece and taking the grill out and replacing it with a black mesh... There was a pix i found but I dont know where it went to now.. o well

later

Yeah, I just don't want to hack anything that can't be easily and cheaply replaced. Covering it up or if someone were to come with an entire replacement bumper that changed it, that'd be cool.

I'm going with vinyl for now to see how I like the look, I've got some new SS badges on order, one standard one and one oversized one like the Impalas have on their trunk. The oversized on is about the same size as the bowtie, so we'll see how it looks (worst case I'll just replace the bowtie on the trunk with it..).

I've been talking with a friend of mine who works for a small engineering firm and they have the ability to pour/mold plastic so I'm going to get a piece made sometime in the near future if I like the look with the vinyl.
