vinyl door inserts question

Just a quick question to anyone who has put an aftermarket vinyl in their door pannels...what glue did you use and how did it hold up??

I got my yellow leather vinyl in, and my door pannels separated from the door, and my plan is to fill something with sand and set it over the vinyl so it dries without pulling up in a corner or crease.

Also any other advise would be helpfull too.

I used the 3M Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive.
That was over the summer and they are still holding good.

What's with the push pins around the insert?

That is an awesome idea!! but I don't want red because I have interior blue neon and I don't think it would look very good but I wouldn't mine matching the silver/grayish trim. What do yall think??

They are actually covers for the bolts I used to hold the insert in.
Nothing i tried would keep the insert in the doors. So they got bolted in.

I hope mine stay in... I took my time and only took the top of the plastic off, then I made custom washers at work so i can use a self taping screw to hold it in on the plastic studs that are left..

I will take some pics in the morning when I get off work

I tried putting screws in the studs also. But they just split the studs.
Also tryed expoy bolts to the inside of the door panel to hold the insert. The expoy held the bolt perfect. But pulled right off the plastic.
Constriction adhesive pulled off the plastic.
The only thing i got to stick is hot melt. So mine have hot melt on the top and bolts from the inside on the bottom.

So here is what I got so far.....

From onlinefabricstore.net

I got a couple of sample colors first to get the best color match..got Esprit Sun Yellow Vinyl

Just took the very top of the plastic holding the panel in...

My custom washers...I'm probably going a different route and tapping the studs for like a 8-32 or 10-32 thread

And here is a sneak preview of my secret headliner project I'm working on....

Red Vinyl Fabric

What red do you think matches the OEM red door inserts best?
Or another site I can order the vinyl that matches better?
Having a shop do it but Im finding the material 1st.

I just redid my inserts in black micro suede. I held the fabric on with spray adhesive that I have used on saddles and motorcycle seats. You can get it at any crafts store. I reinstalled the inserts and just used hot glue to hold them in. It's what I did the last time I had them out and did them red and it holds up really well. It just takes a ton of glue to keep them in place.

No, but all you have to do us carefully peel the fabric off the inserts and it will leave about 99% of the original foam backing on there.
