What adhesive to use for headliner

I've been at this for two days now. I've put my headliner on three times with two different types of adhesive. Second time I got the 3m super trim adhesive, sprayed the headliner and fabric let them dry for a few minutes and its sagging this morning.

Whos actually had theirs stay and what did you do to get it that way? Any suggestions are appreciated.

They actually have 3M headliner spray adhesive. Used it on mine.

You shouldn't let it dry for a couple minutes. When I did mine I sprayed both sides, let it try for less than a minute and then laid the headliner material down. Just long enough for it to get a little tacky.

asherby- where'd you get a hold of that?
I really don't want to tear everything apart but I might end up trying it again. The 3m stuff I have now seems to work well, I guess I let it try too long. I was afraid it would seep through the fabric.

I used supertrim the third time around. It was a lot better than the first kind I used (also 3m) but it is still sagging. I read the instructions, let it sit for a few minutes (I guess too long) and its just not holding in some places.

The third time yes. I sprayed the headliner and the fabric. I used almost the whole can on the headliner, so I don't know how much more I can use. The only thing I can think of is that I let it dry too long. OR that when I am trying to get wrinkles out its making it less sticky. I find it hard to do without letting it touch and having to pull it back up off the headliner. Maybe I'll spray it in rows or something? Do a little at a time.

Anyone fill in the voids for sunvisors and what not before installing headliner? I was thinking about filling those in, and possibly some in the rear of the headliner. I'm just not sure what I could use for that.

Sorry scottie, I kept getting database errors when trying to see if you there were any replies to threads I'd posted in yesterday so I just gave up. I actually bought it at The Home Depot. I'm sure Lowes has the same sort of selection.

thanks, I might stick with the super adhesive. It seems pretty strong, I'll just let it not dry so much next time around.

5 gallon bucket? For some reason I just see most of that going to waste.
