what to do after removing the rear seats

just curious as to what people have done to block off the opening to the trunk after they have removed the rear seats.

i never use my back seats and am planning to take them out, but dont want an ugly opening going to the trunk.

so has anyone come up with something to block off the opening to the trunk that looks at least decent?

what's the point in taking them out? Weight savings is negligible and unless you have big show plans going on back there i say IMO leave them in. . . .

im just figuring anything to block off the trunk opening would be considerably lighter than the rear seats.

some of us have to drive our balts everyday but would still like the benefits of some weight reduction while keeping the car looking decent.

cover some kind of plexi glass or particle board with carpet or suede and cut it to fit and put it back there

The rear seats aren't that heavy. When I remove mine soon I'm going to just make a block off plate.

like i said. . . . . the weight savings will be negligible. If you really have your heart set on it you can get some factory carpet to fill the void

LOL! OP: When you take **** out to "save weight", you don't put **** back in, as you have just contradicted yourself for the reason you took all that **** out to begin with!

make a template out of cardboard. Cut some lightweight particle board using the template. Cover with replica carpet. bolt into place.

well honestly i am mostly doing it for looks. i absolutely never use the back seat for anything.

so i mean, in my case, im kinda just saying what the hell, im bored and want something to do, why not pull out the back seats and kind of make a project out of blocking off the trunk.

i only started this thread to see what others have done, not argue about negligible weight gains/losses.

You will also have to think about extending the carpet, because it doesn't extend much past under the bottom seat. I had my rear seats out to fix the famous squeak, and I must say they are very light. Removing them wont add much if any performance to your car man. You will see better results by removing the factory sub or aftermarket subs, the spare tire, and the rear headrests.
