what the hell is the problem!!
ok i have the first gen projectors and have had them for about 5 months.. first time my right headlight burnt out - replaced it ...then about 3 weeks ago my left headlight burnt out - so i got silverstars to replace both of them,,, now tonight my right one burnt out agian.. WTF is the problem? i'm pissed.. is there something i could have done when wiring them up or am i just having bad luck with these things???
I know that your not the only one that has had problems with those things eating bulbs. To me it sounds like you are you are getting voltage spikes or just too much voltage in general to the lights which is burning them out a lot quicker than they should be. If you have a volt meter I would test the voltage going to the bulb plug and see what you are getting. You may need to put a resistor in to limit the voltage further or something to filter out spikes if that is the case.
Its ridiculous Ive gone through at least twenty bulbs. I finnaly put my stockers back in. I feel like the only way to fix it is with a HID kit because I think there might be a voltage problem, but again I have no idea. It so random, sometimes they would last weeks, days, hours, months. So sick of throwing so much money into them...ughh.
Same thing, put my stock back in. All the bulbs in mine burnt out 3 times and I gave up on them. I liked the way they looked, but never was happy with the visibility while driving anyway.
I would just save your pennies and get an HID Kit. They require more power to turn on, but burn cooler. So if the problem is the gases getting to hot and burning out that way, HIDs would be a reasonable fix.
If it's voltage, he's gunna be popping them left and right, not one every few months.

i just replaced it with another silverstar. either im givin up next time or ill finally dish out the 150$ for hids.. do the projectors require a retrofit for hids though? i dont wanna blind anyone coming towards me
Are these things wired to turn on both bulbs on high beams? If it does, this is most likely the issue.
With both bulbs on there is reduced resistance in the headlamp circuit, which results in increased AMPERAGE, this is what is blowing the bulbs.
If they arent wired like this, then its either heat, oils, or defective bulbs. Its highly unlikely(damn near impossible) that your getting a voltage spike that is blowing out your headlight bulbs and causing no other issues.
