anybody done the tint jobs themselves? my buddy did them on his truck and they turned out perfect, and apparently it cost him next to nothing... im thinking of getting him to do mine. all i know is that you have to be careful to get good tint, cause shitty tint will bubble on the rear windshield if you use the rear defroster...

250 for tinting?!?!?!

I paid 100 for mine 20% all around except the front windshield. It's all about research and asking people. I started with cars that I saw locally on the street. I asked what % they had and how much they paid. Good luck.

Actually in Michigan -NOTHING- is legal on the side windows. You tint even so much as 50%, then chances are you'll get a ticket. I've known about 12 people who had fix it tickets in the past year. This is why my car is registered in Ohio.

Lets see, I paid $220 exactly out the door for 5% on the rear windows, 20% on the side glass, and a 5% 6" wide strip on the front wind shield.

It was all hand cut, professional done by a guy who works along side with DUB magazine. Took him about 4 hours though because he was doing a SAAB at the same time.

ya, michigan, any tint on the driver or passenger doors is against the law, but in the back windows you can have whatever you wish

nothing below 75mm on the front windshield.
nothing on the front left/right windows.
anything above the limit on the windshield.
anything on the rear side windows.
anything on the rear windshield *if you have both left and right side view mirrors.

just wondering how you calculated that? is it factory*tint/stock? Just wondering because ive always wondered how dark my rear window is... i have a layer of 35% and 2 layers of 5% i sorta just assumed it was ~2%

I paid $165 for 27% all the way around, with the vinyl strip at the top of the back window. And I waited while he did it- about 1 1/2- 2 hours. But I guess it does differ wherever you are. I've never paid more that $165 around here- even with 5% all the way around on a 4 door car.

Someone metioned something about doing it yourself?

I would highly sugest not trying it yourself...
i have 20% all around with window strip and i did everything myself.
it seriously took me minimum of 4 hours and plenty of ruined tint.

The front and back sides weren't all too bad, but the back came our horrible. Our rear winshields are curved, and tint is extremely hard to get on without proper heating/molding methods.
overall cost me only like 50 bucks but if you do want to try, just get the back window done for you, it'll save you so much time and effort.

but overall... i probably would never attempt it again.

well more power to him. i'm just not a fan of it.
i mean the front and back sides were fine but when it came down to the back it just went to hell.

what car did he do his with?
cause i know some cars obviously have a little more room below the back windshield, but 'balt coupes have none. its really hard to even get in there with room to work.

I found these guys in Modified Magazine. I've heard great things.

http://lamin-x.com/

They make tint for the Headlights ($49.99)...

...and taillights ($29.99).
