windows tints. someone show me.

i live in Quebec/Canada, right now i got my black and my two rear side windows tinted. i bought the car like that, i dont know what is the % of tint i got on those one...ill get it tested.
my two side front windows are not tinted.....i am planning on tinting them

so by the law of the Quebec province. ( i am in gatineau/canada)

took that from the SAAQ web site

"Before you decide to tint the windows of your vehicle, ensure that you are aware of the restrictions that apply.

No material substance that darkens the glass may be applied or sprayed on the windshield. A strip no more than 15 cm wide may however be placed along the upper edge of the windshield;
Windows on either side of the driver must let in at least 70% of light when measured with a photometer.
Remember, the inside of a vehicle and its occupants must be able to be identified. Deeply tinted windows:

reduce a driver’s field of vision;
make it difficult to see contrasts;
affect a driver’s night vision. "

Windows on either side of the driver must let in at least 70% of light when measured with a photometer.

anyone got that "70% of light" tint on thier car?

i need to know how they look.

please show me picture

thanks for the help.

70% Of visible light transmission is 30% tint, which is very light.

I am not sure who's Cobalt this is, but I liked the look so I copied the picture, but his car is 30% tint, to give you an idea.

Here is mine at 5% if you want some other ideas of how they look. Sorry about it being so big.

i will never go less then 5% anymore, anything less is just not enough for me...I say talk to people around your area and see if the police are sticklers about tint laws and if they arent atleast go with 15% if not 5

i think thats backwards^^^. 70% is not very dark and i think its what comes with the car from the factory. like so:

30% tint means that there is only 30% of visible light going through.which is what alot of people have and get pulled over for (including myslef after 3 months of driving around).thats how its here in California..
here is one with 35% tint on mine.

but i could be wrong;
...Damn, i'm no help.. sorry

the % in the tint name is the "Film % of light allowed through". Not all states go by the film rating though. There is also net, which combines the glass and film.

70% Net is the USA federally mandated tint limit for auto manufacturers. All windows come tinted at 70% or higher, with most in the 75~85% range. So if the state law says 70%, it means you can not add any after market tint to your windows.

Free...part of the deal with the dealership. Got $2000 off MSRP for the car and they tinted the windows for free

to clear things up, tint laws vary for each state
for example, in NY they allow 70%VLT for the roll down windows
which means they allow 70% of the light to come through
cars comes with glass that is right about around there
when your car is outside, roll the window down 1/4 of the way, and look at the difference

in a nutshell: if the law is 70%VLT, any aftermarket tint is illegal
if you add 35% tint to your windows, they will be darker than just 35%, because the stock glass is tinted

no, but it can't be cheaper than getting tint
applying a film is cheaper than removal, dipping, drying, and installation

you can't add any tint to the 3 front windows in short

because it comes stock with about 70% or transparency so what you did is alright you tinted the back 3 windows and left the front ones alone so the cops won't harrass you!

good move

I got 5% on back 3 and 20% on the front. I love it. Haven't been pulled over yet. But only time will tell.
