I hope you have good luck!!! Last one I had tint put on looked good at first then started to lift off the glass around the dots so it had that "milk-haze" look on the outside.

My tint guy just sanded down the dot matrix with a brillow pad or a green dish scrubby. didnt hurt it... looks fine thats his fix for it.

I'm one of the lucky ones that it came out really good... a good tint guy can make it work over 75% of the time!!!
This is true, a good tint guy can usually deal with the dots, most cars can be made to stick with a little extra prep work on the dots. I did say most, i personally have about a 90% stick rate with cobalts, some are just stubborn. What happens is the the dots actually hold the film off of the glass a bit and allow air to travel in under the film, and that looks like ass, but what looks worse in my opinion is when a tinter just cuts the film off below the dots. In most cases, even if it does not stick right away, after about a week, the dot area can usually be rubbed and will lay down for the most part. The vynil is another solution that when done properly looks decent also, but i prefer to just tint it.

I see that you are in florida, i hope you didn't go to a $99.00 shop, go to a reputable shop, pay a fair price and you should get a good job. Alot of shops down there seem to be all about quanity and could care less about quality. Also, give the film time to dry before you pick it apart, it usually takes a week to fully dry.

The problem may be that they are laminated and tint can cause issues on laminated glass. But i have tinted a few and never had a problem. Tinting over factory tint has no effect!!!

It's for real.

They have a tint to help solve the dot matrix problem. But the place wanted to charge 40 bucks to do it. Said no. But damn it looked like **** should've done it.

had my rear window tinted twice... first time looks pretty shitty and second time came out looking quite a bit better. not perfect but a hell of a lot better then before. I would think adding a layer of tint would make it worse

??? I wonder what they ment buy saying they had tint to deal with it, tint is tint. It is a plastic film that has a layer of water activated adhesive on it it that sticks to the glass. Now some tint has a bit more aggressive glue, but i have seen almost every film have problems sticking to the dots with out special prep work and alittle extra effort when installing. There are some clear adhesives on the market that can be used on the dots between the film and glass to help it stick but it is very messy...

Sounds like the installer just tried a bit harder the second time around.

The extra glue you mean? Really all it is is craft glue, like aleens you get from craft stores and such, most tint places want you to think it is some miracle stuff. What is done is the film is applied as normal, then the installer will drop the film just below the dot matrix and apply a line of this glue to the bottom edge of the matrix, then lay the film back over it and the slowly work the glue up the dots to the edge of the film. The outcome is usually good if done correctly, but the problem is, is when you get the the edgem the excess glue splooges out from under the film, leaving the installer with a nastly slimy glue mess to clean and keep from getting on the interior of the car. What you really pay for is the extra time involved in this process. BUT, i rarely use this method, and NEVER on a cobalt, it's just not necessary, cobalts will almost always stick. Dots have to be cleaned extremely well and the heat forming process must be done properly. I started doing new balts for my local chevy dealer so we have to make sure they are right. Can't sell a new car with a shitty tint job. But before everyone goes and gives their tinters hell about the dots, it is not the tinters fault, blame the stupid manufactures for this. All tinter hate the dots and they all have some issues with them. We tinters just have different ways of dealing with it, some methods work, some don't. also what worked on one car may not work on another one of the same make, go figure???

I felt the film, and it actually felt like it was tint with dots on it. Hundreds of them, and he told me of that process. I just wanted to save $40 bucks. This guy does a real good job. He removed all the interior pieces around the windows on my car before applying the tint.

ya thats what i thought but i would figure once the first layer was ghetto you couldnt fix it on the second layer.

Funny thing is both times i had it there almost all day and both times it was done when i showed up (they never called) and my car was chilling out front car dealership style
