Changing gear ratios?

So. Had some time to think at work tonight. Car is going back in the shop next week to pull the trans apart since the LSD is still leaking (think they have finally admitted they put it in wrong) and I know the general consensus is the F23 is "hurting" by its gear ratio. Could you / would it be worth it to change any of the gears to F35 trans gears to get a better ratio? Im not sure offhand how different the internals are. But im wondering about changing 3rd, 4th and final drive to get better gearing for track days / time attack.

Used to do this all the time with the t101's in the stock car.

Or am I way out in left field and i should just live with the F23 in the car?

Looking for some input from those that know. Thanks.

You can use a final drive from an hhr(4.17) or a saturn vue(4.41) but iirc the only one that has a different fifth is the vue trans. The rest all have the same ratios i believe besides the final drive.

I think they are quite different and that wouldn't work.

There are different f23 trans with different ratios though. Or at least a different final drive.

I looked into this years ago, there is an HHR trans with a different final drive ratio, somewhere around 4.10 or 4.11. The Saturn VUE with a fwd 2.2 motor has internals that are swapable except it has a final drive of 4.41 with a different 5th gear I believe, to make a lower rpm on the highway. It's been a long time since I looked this up. That's about it other then a custom buil I think. I've heard Powell does something but I forget what it was....

f23 is made by getrag, it is a three shaft design, and completely different to the f35 and no f35 gears will fit in an f23. As for different iterations of F23? That is entirely possible, but not worth the effort for me to chase. Maybe you or Andrew Carr can do the hunting and see what different ratio's are out there. Cavvy ran F23 in its last years of production.
