First autocross/racing experience ever

I went to my first ever autocross event (Mirror Khana) ever in Salina, KS yesterday. It is a double elimination bracket even where you race against another car halfway across the course. First one back over their own starting line wins. Here are a couple of videos.

I had a lot of fun. I was at a slight disadvantage because I couldn't make it for the practice runs everyone else went through on Saturday. I don't know if the outcome would have been very different but I would have at least been familiar with the course. I also found out all season 740 treadwear tires aren't going to cut it. It was difficult to have the finesse to control the throttle and keep the tires from pretty much spinning the whole time. Other than that I just think I need quite a bit more practice before more fine tuning of the car will be advantageous.

After watching these videos I've also decided I could probably use a new exhaust. My 9 year old Magnaflow cat back sounds a little blown out.

Tires is the best, cheapest and easiest performance upgrade you can make, especially if you're on all seasons. Get some 200 tread wear tires, front and back.

I have ordered Michelin Pilot Super Sports but they are 300 tread wear. They are probably too nice for my car but I also ordered TRMotorsport FF10 to have them mounted on.
