I didnt freak out about my pads. I had shitty pads and I was braking alot which caused them to smoke and give out. Lesson learned, pretty sure some of you guys were there pointing and laughing. Thats mature? lol Anyway I just put these wheels on the weekend before hand and I decided to AutoX a whopping 3 days before the actual event. I had a blast the people who go out there and do it are the most helpful group of guys ive ever seen. I have already planned on having 2 sets of wheels. the LMs and STI stock wheels. Wangspeed and Maven thanks for your input and to everyone else if you never tried it its worth a go just see if you can get a experienced co driver, that helped me out ALOT.

Oh man having someone else who is faster than you drive your car is a great (even if humbling and embarrassing) experience. I remember the first time I drove a truly quick camaro on the track, then the owner dove it ....blew my mind how much more he got out of car.
At first he was quicker than me but over time my times were matching some of the STI/EVO drivers. Miatas and Lotuses ofcourse were in the 19/20s. I was about a sec slower than a cobalt with slicks and with a experienced driver. Theres another one in a few months not sure if I will go to that one just yet.
Glad you had fun... I would have felt sketchy about the stretched rears but if it works then whatever... that 44psi rating is at maximum load for 8hrs... I guess people don't realize a lot of shops seat a tire with 100+ psi of airpressure... I know my ps2s were seated with 75....
Hi, my name is Ray Finlay, I was Nate's co driver and have been AutoXing since about 2008. Just so everybody knows, I had the tire pressures set 38 front/35 rear. and was bleeding them down to that throughout the day as temps went up.
I rode with him and drove a couple runs in the morning session, but quickly turned the car back over to him once he was comfortable with the course. I also took the picture showing the seemingly low tire. Obviously in the picture the rim looks like its pretty close to the ground, but you all should know that there is a downward angle to the shot that exaggerates this.
You can see in the pic a seam in the asphalt just behind the wheel in question. That is where the lot goes from flat to a pretty decent grade. Every car there with a stiff rear sway bar was 3 wheeling through it. I don't think i need to say it, but I will. Nate's car isn't setup for autoX, lol. He's a good friend of mine who showed interest in something I feel passionate about. I talked with him about things I'd do with the setup if he wanted to get into it a little more, raise the car up a little bit, more camber in the front, more tire, up the spring rate in the front etc. All of that is up to him. My goal for the day was for him to gain some experience driving the car hard, be safe and have fun, we accomplished that with flying colors!
By the way, I was very impressed with Nate's driving throughout the day, I'm not a pro or anything, but nate did very well bringing his times down all day. For what its worth, I put 2 runs on it, my best time was a 23.8 I think. Not great but considering the first time I drove the car was when I pulled it into grid for the first run, not to bad, lol. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

AutoXer's don't need co drivers, but its amazing what you can learn from an experienced driver riding shotgun, or riding with one in his car. You can learn tons about car control and where the limits are.
That applies to on track driving as well. Although, these days, data acquisition is quite cheap, like with an AIM Solo, and takes all the BS out of the game.
