No Block Heater?!?

So I spent 30 min. with the shop foreman of my local GM dealership looking for the block heater cord on my car , and found out <drumroll> THERE IS NO BLOCK HEATER. Now considerinng I'm in Winnipeg, this is a real problem....There is a GM P/N for it but they haven't installed block heaters in any S/C Cobalts in Manitoba. Anyone else in Canada with an SS S/C have this problem?

The SS/SC does not come with a block heater nor does it come with the heated seats, these are non-s/c features only. People have bought one and had it installed, here's two links for ya:

In the US, the SS-SC is avaiable with the block heater. The one you can order is the same one that is available on it in the states.

In Canada, for some unkown reason, there was no option for a block heater being installed. So no Cobalt SS-SC in the 2005 or 2006 model years get one from the factory. My guess is that the SS-SC buyers (mostly American) will not order this option, so they decided not to offer it in Canada as standard or optional equipment.

It is really cheap, like $60-70 Canadian. Just order it.

How does a Block Heater work? Like how do you mount it? What part goes inside the engine? Or does it? I know, I'm an idiot, But I must know because I am NOSY.

I had mine installed about a month ago. it screws into the back of the block. Weirdest looking block heater I have ever seen. I think I posted some pictures of it awhile ago..

The 2.0L block heater mounts at the back of the engine and sticks out towards the firewall. It slips into a little notch on the block and is held by a screw. Comes with a 6 foot cord or so. In the winter time, anything below -10 at night, mine is plugged in. Makes for a much faster, warmer startup in the morning and cuts down on wasted gas waiting for your car to heat up!

I paid 40 bucks for mine and was ordered through my delear.

Look in the links posted above for a picture!
